Seriously, I'm the only one who gives too much credit for that someone, but it's just because rest of the forum doesn't give enough, so I see myself as some kind of a balance maker
We definitely overrate Derozan compared to non Raptors fans.
Don't think we overrate JV, especially in the first weeks when he was drafted (epic underrate)
We underrate Gray
We overrate Ross
By saying We, I mean You
Hahah I overrate guys like Ross and derozan?? You're funny. Kleiza drops 20 points on 11 3 point attempts and you think he's crazy. The guys a chucker. If he missed 2 of those attempts u guys would be callin for his head. He's inconsistent and has very poor shot selection. Heck when he puts the ball on the floor it makes me shiver. We should trade him for an expiring or a 2n rounder. Some of us characterized Ross' game as the second coming of Harden after he chucked and made some shots against Memphis. His points are in transition (uncontested dunks) or jump shots. However, Ross is going to always have a career in the Nba due to his defense, athleticism, and shooting. He's consistently staying ahead of the oppsoing player. He's playing good defense and is only a rookie, but I wouldn't say he's going to be James Harden. We shouldn't have gave that second year player option to Gray. I also wanted Rfa to dictate derozans value. I wanted to pay him chandler type money.

Yeah most fanbases do. I should have rephrased and been more clearer about my question for everyone: do we tend to overrate our players to the extent it becomes detrimental to the health (both long and short term) of our franchise?

this franchise absolutely overrates their players. however, it's nowhere close as to how lakers, celtics, knicks and heat fans overrate their players.

If free agency started today, I wouldn't be surprised to see BC offer Alan Anderon a 2 year 6 million dollar deal with the second year as a player option.

No, it depends on the players. Ross and Davis for example are probably underrated. The reason being that they did not arrive with the same type of hype as high school superstar Demar Derozan or Valanciunas with a year of build up. Ross has never been a worse prospect than Bradley Beal or Harrison Barnes, all 3 guys are jumpshot first players who haven't adjusted to the NBA line yet and Ross is arguably the best athlete of the 3. Yet if the Raps had gotten Beal or Barnes last draft they'd have been treated like saviours and future superstars. Mainly because Chad Ford said it was OK to treat Beal and Barnes as top 5 pick caliber players but not OK to feel Ross was a top 10. The amount of hype Barnes would've gotten this summer from the media and fans if the Raps had picked 7th and taken him would have been staggering despite the fact that taking him over Drummond fits all the criticisms of taking Ross over Drummond (not enough upside/not another jumpshooter/etc.), frankly it's probably a good thing we lost that coin toss because BC would've been selling kool-aid like a 10 year old on a 35 celsius day about how he set the Raptors up for greatness with his Barnes/Valanciunas combo, probably enough to get extended

Sure do we overrate our player, but the problem is the management overrates our players (as we can see with the extensions BC is dishing out to everyone).

Ross is overrated by the board right now. He hits a jump shot and people ask why we haven't turned the team over to him.

I don't even care if it was two weeks, it's been 8yrs. We know what Calderon is at this point. The fact that a week ago and really over the last couple years there has been no consistent consensus on this guy speaks volumes. He goes through stretches where he looks really good, and then he goes through stretches where he looks average at best and kills us defensively. He is what he is. Top 10 is not accurate, top 5 is dowright laughable.

I will say this about Calderon. These past couple of games have shown us it's easier to cover up for his deficiencies than it is Bargnani's.

the first game not so much imo. The Dallas game we looked far better defensively with the bench on the floor, the starters left the floor late in the first and we were down 25-24. Then bench then went on a run and gave us a 12pt lead. Third quarter we got the lead up to 20 then they went on an 8-0 run and almost got back in the game until the bench came back in and extended it again. there were stretches in that game that the defense was ugly. The last game we did a better job, but Lin has looked below average many nights this season and this game was no acception and their PG is nothing special.

Let's face it, this part of the schedule is make or break if we have any shot whatsoever at making this a decent season. Much more home games vs teams essentially on our level or perceived to be worse going into the season. This team realizes that if they don't do it now this season is gone, if it already isn't gone.

There should be a third option in the poll:

"Yes, we overrate, then underrate, then overrate, then underrate..."

Because that's whats happening in this group of fans from what I see.
