Default Do the Raps hold on to players too long?

I recently read from a very credible source that the Raps hold on to players too long and then wring their hands two years later when they fall out of favour or suck balls and then the fans wonder why they didn't get rid of them when could have got something in return and whine that the GM needs to go.

Who are these players and when has this ever happened? Can someone please elaborate?

Thanks

I agree with Jeff. If anything BC likes to rotate the roster too much at times

Clearly you don't have an answer or you would have just named these mystery players a few days ago.

Bosh is one of them... 2.5 yrs ago OKC wanted Bosh for KD.
Will try to find the source though.
It was up in the air that Bosh isn't gonna come back and we gonna let him go for almost nothing.

It's quite simple...who are they? I'd sincerely like to know.

Or are you waiting for other people to respond so you can just use their answers?

Jose
Bosh
Mopete - should have dealt him when the hornets wanted him
T-Mac- everyone knew he was leaving

Another part of my post pointed out that we never sell high. Which has never happened in our 16yrs, but you didn't say anythinhg about that at all.

If Tmac got his extention when GG should have given it to him he would have been locked up.

Colangelo and Mitchell chose a healthy Jose over TJ. I suppose they should've looked in their crystal ball to predict his injuries. How is he playing now that he's healthy again?

When exactly did Bosh fall out of favour or begin sucking balls? I'm pretty sure he didn't fall out of favour in Toronto until he picked Miami.

The Hornets wanted Mo Pete when they signed him to an offer sheet which the Raps matched, so I'm not too sure what your point is.

The fact that everyone knew T-Mac was leaving is debatable, but when did he start sucking or fall out of favour?

Now as for selling high:

How has TJ Ford done since being traded by the Raptors? I'd say they sold high there.

How has Charlie V done since the promise he showed in his rookie season and the Raps traded him? I'd say they sold high there.

How has Fred Jones done since the Raps flipped him for a player with a shorter contract and a guy who contributed somewhat? I'd say they sold high there.

How did Antonio Davis and JYD do after they were sent to Chicago? Not as much as Marshall and Rose did here in TO.

How did Mark Jackson and Mugsy Bogues do after they were signed to nice juicy contracts and then flipped for a first round pick and the much more useful Chris Childs who also had a much shorter contract?

^ This, a lot of people mentioned by Jeff were not washed up, just letting them leave while they were hot in the market and not wlling to trade.

Another one that comes to mind was the Hedo deal where we ended up getting Barbosa was good too

And Bosh for Durant? I havent heard about that one too, but Im sure BC would of jumped on that deal though

Jose
Demar
Durant
Bargnani
Jonas

If by "too long" I would agree....about 4 months too long.

As soon as a "star" player refuses an extension mid season, they should be traded. It's "tough love" and probably would piss off a few fans, but it's good business.

How many more assets would we have if we traded Bosh , McBaby, or even Carter (I know, not an extension scenario) to contenders when they refused the Raps offers?

Easy mistake to be made by a new team. But we are not new anymore. Time to play hardball!
