Default Do Raps get a National TV Game?

It's been a while since Toronto played on national television in the states... will Bosh's return make the cut? Miami is expected to play the league maximum of 34 games on national tv.

Quote:
The league will release its full 2010-11 schedule Aug. 10. The opener vs. Boston is one of several marquee games on the Heat's schedule. The more highly anticipated matchups include James' first visit to Cleveland, Bosh's first trip back to Toronto, Miami's game at Chicago and a potential Christmas Day showdown against the Lakers.

I doubt it.

No one outside of Toronto/Canada will care about Bosh's return.

34 games on national tv.

wow, thats pretty fair to the small market teams and the less popular teams.

What a great way to build an even and solid popularity in your league.

Those guys are idiots.

It's about money

Heat games will make more money by drawing a bigger audience compared to small market teams...

It's a business first... sport 2nd...

Why would the NBA showcase shitty teams if it's trying to attract new viewers?

It sucks but I understand their reasoning.

the NBA doesn't care about parity. Hell no league really cares about it (except maybe the NHL. maybe).

The NHL does care about parity. Hence why you see the most obscure teams get titles (Anaheim, Tampa, Carolina, etc). Teams in Phoenix who openly don't support their team.

I don't really care if we're on US national tv or not. Our team will never get american recognition unless we're the title holders and even then, we'll get snubbed somehow. I remember one douchebag who said that the World Series victories that the blue jays had were boring. WTF? (walk home run by joe Carter was boring?). I think we'll be more than happy with a good team that is winning and fun to watch

No my cleaning bottle friend they don't. The sports networks are separated into regions. So they will probably show the canucks play in vancouver on a given night over the Raptors game.

they're going to be playing on the specialty channel, which I assume the nation has access to
TSN2 is available nation wide

I was under the impression that something like TSN2 would have different programming based on your location. But that's something interesting to look into.

You're wrong on several counts. For one, it is fair to the small market teams. They get an equal share of the tv rights, regardless how many games they appear in. So teams like minesotta stand to make a lot of money piggybacking on the popularity of the heats and the lakers.

But most important of all, it's fair to the fans. If you want to watch the home town team, watch local tv. Otherwise, let's be honest, would you rather see minesotta vs Indiana, or the heat vs the lakers?

Here in Vancouver with the basic cable package you get The Score, TSN, and Rogers Sportsnet Pacific. If you have a HD box you get Score HD, TSN HD, Rogers Sportsnet Pacific, East, Ontario, and West. Basically the sportsnet channels usually play the same program on all there channels so there really isn't any variety.

Apparently from what I know of they are going to do this for the Raptors

23 games - Rogers Sportsnet One
12 games - Rogers Sportsnet Regional channels
25 games - TSN2
22 games - TSN

You have to subscribe for Rogers Sportsnet One and TSN2 if you want to watch the other 48 games. Also, if you don't have the HD Box here, which gives you a few free extra channels such as all the Sportsnet regionals you have to subsribe for them as well. Sportsnet One just fucked us even more considering we already can't watch more then a 1/4 of the games because of TSN2. I'm not sure what the situation is like for Toronto.

Basic Cable Package is 29.99/Month (This is basic analog cable with channel 1-59 or whatever)

Digital Plus HD Package is 46.99/Month (Most people who have a digital box have this package and when you first subscribe to this package you get a free trial of VIP for 1 month which includes TSN2)

VIP Package is 56.99/Month (This is the package which gives you TSN2 for free and also other sports channels like Fox Sports HD etc.)

+1

It's like Boozer returning to Utah, isn't it? I really don't care about it.
