Default DJ Augustine... worth bringing back?

Based on his play in CHI (as both a backup and a starter) would he be worth another look from us? FA this summer and lord knows we're going to need a some help at the PG spot (esp. if Lowry leaves).

Lol... the guy was dropped for fucking Dwight Buycks and Julyan Stone. There's no way he comes back nor do I want him. Thibs almost always maxes out his players(esp. his starters) and their talent/effort. The guy didn't do jack shit while he was here.

He didn't really get a fair shake here imo to get a consistent role. Five weeks filled with inconsistent minutes on a new team in a new system isn't exactly enough time to evaluate anyone.

That's my feeling on it too. But I do agree that he'd probably tell us where to go unless the money was excellent and he was guaranteed a role. He's been excellent for the Bulls though.

We threw him out the door without giving him a fair chance to prove himself. I can't see him wanting to come back after the way the organization and coaching staff treated him. Fuck sakes, he got waived over Stone and Buycks, and both of them are complete crap.

DJ is an easy case to figure out. He struggles in a role he should be playing, which is a backup PG who plays limited minutes and should be getting limited opportunities due to his skill set(ie, he should be like CJ Watson, who comes in for 12-18 mpg primarily as a guy who brings the ball up, and is a spot up shooter, and only handles the ball in late clock scenarios).

Instead, DJ plays his best as a primary ball handler for a team, and generally gets in a good rhythm when playing extended minutes. The issue is that he isn't good enough to be getting 20+ mpg consistently on a good team(luckily for him, the Bulls were desperate, and the Bulls defence is so good that it can lead to so many wins).

To answer TORs OP, no, we shouldnt go after him, because he would look just as shitty as he did before with us, because he wouldnt be playing enough minutes for him to produce anything substantial.

Although I agree with the feeling that he did not get a fair opportunity to show what he can provide here, I feel like this post is a quite accurate description of what DJ can bring. He's proven on the Bobcats and now with the Bulls that he can produce when he's given the green light. In fairness to DJ, the Bulls have actually been winning so he has been showing that he can play significant minutes on a mediocre team. It's better than languishing on the Raptors bench as the very least. I can't see him wanting to return, or fitting in the role we would need him to be in.

Lol what?

I liked him in Charlotte and felt that he did not get a good chance in Toronto. No way he wants to come back though.

So you don't think that he could duplicate his CHI performances if he was back here as a PG playing 25+ MPG?

You could be right.... but it could also have just been a situation where he didn't get much of a chance to prove his worth. Teams make those mistakes all the time. To be clear, I'm not advocating breaking the bank for him, but if he could be had for say $10M over 3 years I'd have a hard time passing over him without a thought.

What makes you think that? Why sign here if you don't want to be here? He had his chance and he played terribly from what I remember.

Not sure how you can chalk that up to not wanting to be here.
