Difficult Make or Break roadtrip

This might be our most difficult stretch of games considering how terrible we tend to be on the west coast...I'm guessing we might be able to take 2 out of the 5.

Monday @ Denver L (We always get blown out here)

Wednesday @ Sac W

Friday @ Utah W (revenge game?)

Sunday @ LAC L

Monday @ Portland L

2-3 on a west coast trip would be pretty good, and def keep us alive in the standings...an 0-5 trip would put as at 4-18 :dead:

DonMughal 12-01-2012 04:08 PM

Wow, that's gunna be a horrible road trip. I'll be shocked if we win 2.

FUCK YOU NBA!!!!! How the hell did you give us a schedule like this?

I know it evens out later in the season, I just don't want their spirit and eagerness to compete to be broken early in the season.

Ammo 12-01-2012 04:18 PM

I think they should pull a San Antonio and rest guys to try and get a wins in games 2 and 3 of the 5 game stretch then see what happens game 4 and 5.

i.e. sit out Denver for 5 days off between games for Bargnani and Lowry.

Lowry: rehab your foot, no pancakes.

Bargnani: rehab your heart, no Primo.

BigMan93 12-01-2012 04:39 PM

as long as i see Ross avg at least 20 mins im a happy camper.

Lol, can we even dress 8 guys if we do that??? :dead:

2-3 would be shocking but 1-4 is more realistic. 0-5 would be truly horrible. Also, rest Lowry and Bargs if need be.

Bill Haverchuck 12-01-2012 05:26 PM

2 wins is possible if Lowry and Bargs are in the lineup against Sac, Portland and Utah, and the bench plays respectable, like it did last night. The Raps are crappy, but I really don't think they are 4-13 level crappy. This is more of a 7-10 team, in my opinion.

Just the Denver game:

Jose/JL3
Demar/Ross
MP/Kleiza
Amir/Ed/Acy
JV/Gray/Amir

You want young guys to get playing time...now's their chance.

It's really pointless to see Lowry out there at partial speed and Bargnani just waiting to turn his injury into a 30 game sit-out.

This.

Wouldn't call it make or break, the season is already broke. More like either Humpty Dumpy's pieces get sent to the glue factory, or someone finds him and starts thinking about trying to put him back together

Not ready to give up on a team that:

-Lost it's opening game of the season on a game winning shot with 1 second left

-Lost a triple overtime game to Utah in which Jefferson who was 1/25 from 3 point range hit a three that rattled around the rim

-Got fucked over by the officating vs the Bobcats

-Lost in double OT to the spurs

You take that all into account, this team is much better than a 4-13 record.

-1 for agreeing with somebody that it's pointless to have two of the 3 scoring options out there not fully healthy :confused2:

You're all crazy. This is a very winnable road trip. Denver just got rattled by a bum team and we're going to be catching Portland and Sacramento at a good time. The other two games we just got to pound the rock and try and take one of two. Four out of 5 and boom we're at 8-14. Easy peasy.

The loss to the Pistons was pretty stupid too. Bargs was hot and they didn't ride him enough late. Lowry was just coming back and should have backed off more, instead of trying to take over the game late.

I don't see that type of loss happening if they had all been playing together for a while. It's the type of game they win later in the season.

I, too, think the season is probably broke, in the sense that the playoffs are a major long shot. But I do think they can save some face by significantly decreasing the odds of handing OKC a top 5 pick.

If they go 2-3 on this road trip, that puts them at 6-16 overall. After that, things get a bit easier and the rookies will probably only continue to contribute more and more. I figure they could go .500ish in the final 60 games, finishing the season with 35-37 wins.

Oh wow, I completely forgot about the Pistons game. I completely agree, Bargnani was on fire that night, and the last 2 possessions Lowry looked for his own shot.

Should have won that game, I guess I tried to repress the memory of it.

Ammo 12-01-2012 08:49 PM

What was I thinking anyway? Don't rest anybody! This is the same outfit that pretty much told us beforehand that they were tanking, the fans still showed up and they didn't tank right.

No healing required, Raps players. If they lose by 15 points to Denver, make sure both Bargnani and Lowry still get 38 minutes.

Kyle, if you hear something pop, keep running.

Andrea, I don't know why you are not 100%, but be sure to over-compensate until something major breaks down.

Metallikid 12-02-2012 02:05 AM

If this is a make or break road trip to anyone on this forum, prepare to be disappointed. Our make or break games have long since passed. At this point we're just trying to avoid an 0-5. At worst we take one game, likely against the Kings. At best, we do go 0-5 and actually see some changes come the 15th.

Also, more and more I realize that there's no point in spiting OKC. Who cares what pick we give them? I could see being upset if they were in our conference but it really has no bearing on us in any way. We got Kyle Lowry, that should be good enough. If we want to be upset about the pick then we either have to make the playoffs (unlikely) or trade the chaff and tank for a top 3 (slightly more realistic). If we were ever going to aim for a top 3 pick now would be the year because either the player will have an impact or we make a package trade to add someone good enough to put us in serious playoff contention next year.

Dario 12-02-2012 03:20 AM

ofcourse, we're the raptors, everything comes hard. :chuck:

Tomas 12-02-2012 04:06 AM

5-17 after this roadtrip, don't see them winning more than 1 game.
