Did we trade the wrong point guard?

Yes, MVP, this thread is for you.

Has anyone else seen the significate drop in Joses game over the last few weeks? I thought this guy was going to be a lock to be an all-star, so we traded an injury-prone point guard to Indy. Now it's the other way around. Jose has yet to play a whole game in January and TJ's numbers since joining the pacers have soared. Which makes me think. Would we be doing better if we had run-and-gun TJ, or half-court Jose.

Makes you think......

Yes, But it was them not me I never would have let Ford go.

Tommy2Tymes 01-11-2009 09:43 PM

look up tj's stats before you make a claim that his numbers have "soared".

hes been the exact same player that we traded away.

Trading TJ was the right move. He was a severe injury risk and his douche streak at the end of the year booked his flight out of town if we had to get rid of one. Plus he's not exactly killing it in Indy. Actually he's played fairly weak.

The best thing would've been if Forderon had continued to work and we just kept that. Unfortunately it didn't

no - i'm a ford fan and i believe we made the right decision. his health is just too big of a concern.

the wrong decision was believing that calderon is the right point guard to play 35 minutes a night. that's proven wrong IMO. the best thing that can happen is to have roko mature enough to challenge and take calderon's minutes to put him at that comfortable 25 minutes a night again. nine million is tough to swallow for that, but i'd imagine we'd receive more productive minutes out of him.

TJ in TO: 12.1 ppg 6.1 assists 1.5 rebounds 1.1 steals

TJ in Indiana: 13.8 ppg 5.2 assists 4.1 rebounds 1.1 steals

we trade a selfish point guard for a selfish PF/C both of them are only thinking about theirs stats

Boshinator_ 01-11-2009 10:02 PM

Here is another Raptors fan entrapped in the past...GET OVER IT!!!!

inn0c3nt 01-11-2009 10:11 PM

in reality i wouldn't have traded neither of them...yet... we pay them to play, regardless if they start or not they should just go out there and get the job done

LX 01-11-2009 10:26 PM

I think trading them both would have been the way to go.

thomas1 01-11-2009 10:28 PM

Hey this is redundant at this point but here are my 2 cents. On defense both TJ and Jose suck, they can't keep their guard ahead of them. TJ does give you more offense with his ability to break down defenses but you give up control of the ball and get higher T/Os.
That said the only rational choice was to go with Jose simply because of health issues.

raptor123 01-11-2009 10:30 PM

The question should be who will be traded next Jose or TJ ? We all know Jose is still worth more then TJ even playing on one leg. lol

Who would you start at the 1?

jeffb 01-11-2009 10:36 PM

Holy Fuck, this again?

No we didn't trade the wrong PG! Not even close. T.J alot of the time doesn't start the games for Indiana. And look at their record, he hasn't made them any better. In fact they're probably worse!

13-23 (.361)

We need to quit living in the past. T.J was an ok PG, but he's better then Jose in some things and way worse then Jose in other areas. IMO Jose is not the problem with this team, by a long shot.

Snooch 01-11-2009 10:37 PM

Joses last 10 games before the injury

14.3ppg 8.7apg 4.3rpg, pretty damn good to me.

Gurk 01-11-2009 10:39 PM

I agree completly! Jose has played extremly well when not bothered by this hamstring. T.J was a selfish ass with some quicks, yippy!

dfunkie1 01-11-2009 10:44 PM

that's almost certifiable!

the way our offense is designed with jose is extremely assist friendly. he's not creating out there, so forget the stats. here's something from the past ten games, minimum ball movement, extremely low fast break points and shitty boring basketball.

He's missed 4 of those games! LOL
