Serious question, did we overrate them, just a bit.

Right now, DeMar looks lost and well, young. Davis seems to be a slightly better version of Reggie Evans, there's massive question marks around Bayless and well, I can't think of any other players.

But, it's been pretty interesting to see how our team has struggled with them. They just haven't taken then next step, when the opportunity is there.

Could a lot of this be do to not having a proper training camp?

No, because most people didn't think any of those players would be stars this year.

Which is why they can't win because none of them are ready for the responsibility that they would need to win games this year.

We have some guys that could start for other teams because they are young and decent but we don't have a dominant player for them to rally around.

Can't hold it against them that they aren't that calibre, but they are good enough if we add strong pieces through FA/draft.

Both of which are feasible options this year with cap space to spend and a high draft pick. That impact player needs to present itself and it's wrong to fault the other guys because that just isn't their role or their time for it yet.

Honestly, it's a good question because i'm not impressed with any of them. Ultimately Demar and Davis are the two young pieces on this team in which much has been placed on them. Davis has been playing better as of late but hasn't been impressive overall, Derozan has for the most part looked lost, over matched and average. Now, they are too young imo to just give up on. But the rest of the season they need to show improvement.

Bargnani is proving that we didn't overvalue him... he's a stud.

I little early to say he's a stud after years of a lot of crap. Besides, his game still has holes.

Remember the thread "who is the best player in the Rap's roster this year?". As I said before, the best players in the Raps roster is playing in Europe right now and playing US college basketball. Demar and Ed Davis are just complimentary pieces to the future. Stay the course, allow the youth to learn to play defense, and be a bad team right now to get the good draft pick. Casey was the right choice!! Go Raps!!!

Casey can't run a reliable offense, its quite disappointing.

I do think the Raptors franchise hyped these players in an attempt to spin losing Bosh. There was a lot of pressure and unrealistic expectations put on these kids. The reality is they just aren't that great. Davis I still have faith in. I think in his case its just gaining experience and knowledge and he can turn in to a very savvy 2nd unit PF. Derozan has fallen off a cliff, he whines about calls, every thing is an excuse. He allows bad turns in the game to escalate and its effecting his shot, his desire to get back on D, and his over all composure. I am concerned that he just doesn't have the mind set to be 2nd option guy.

He doesn't have the talent to implement an effective offense. You can have the greatest offensive plan in place, but it will never work if you don't have the players to play.

If you think this on coaching your not watching the games. These guys can't dribble, shoot, or pass. If this is Casey fault its because he hasen't told derozan and johnson they are not allowed to move with the ball

If DeMar wants to be elite, he's gotta workout like the elite.

When other teams don't have to defend against Bargnani, this team is so defendable it's insane. There are usually 3 players on the floor at a time that can't shoot, handle the ball and dribble. Do teams really defend guys like Butler, Forbes, JJ, Magloire, Davis, Amir, Carter, Gray. And with Bayless also out this team has absolutely no offensive punch whatsoever. We currently have Barbosa, Derozan, Jose that can score......that's it. And like i said, without Bargnani for them to worry about this team is a piece of cake to defend.

It's a work in progress, and that is what I expected and hoped for. The last thing I wanted to see was the green guys blossoming and taking us out of a good pick in the draft. I want to see solid two-way players by the end of the season, ready to do something nice with a much better roster.

What is a bit disappointing, though understandable, is the lack of role definition. It's a little better than last year, but ultimately the mish mash of incompatible roles is on Bryan to fix. The increased veteran presence has had a bit of an impact, but without them being able to contribute, it's waning.

Trade the man with the golden calf for more youth, like the Sonics/Thunder did with Allen. We need to build for real and not settle for building around any one guy that can bring a few wins.

What has been overrated from day one is the golden boy. There are no good players in Toronto for which Demar, and Davis to learn from.

It's ugly
