Garnett is not a center, howard and duncan are playing like ones - and those were my two choices. But beyond that - not much competition.

And yes, Gasol is a bit soft, but are you implying that Bosh isn't ??? And Bosh gets to the line, true, but that's his only real strength. And the problem is, he's not getting these 50-50 calls in the playoffs, at least not yet. I'd take gasol over him in a playoff game. Bosh is a horrible defender on powerful forwards, did you see alexander johnson abusing him last game vs miami? Anybody with a little strength mops the floor with Chris, and it's not even his fault, his strenth just isn't there.

Well Chris may have room for improvement, but he is 4 years younger and has time to grow with this team, Gasol wouldnt really make us better then what we are now, it would only make us more european... nice if we are playing in the olympics, not so nice for the nba playoffs.

As for Playoffs, we dont know what Gasol will do, he never makes it... how does a supposed "dominate" big man not lead his team to the playoffs? Name another one that hasnt?

Gasol is a PF, so I don't see why this team could need his game.

Gasol has won a lot of things outside of the NBA, World championship, Silver medal at the european, Euroleague, Kings cup, Spanish league . You just have to put the right pieces around him. And I think kobe, Odom, Fisher, walton, bynum are more than enough.
He basically took memphis by himself to the playoffs. Is not his fault his old team sucked.

nope, I have seen gasol play for ages, and as good as he is, we dont need him. It is difficult but Bargs has the talent to be better than him. Bosh+bargs can be the best combination in the league. Gasol is perfect for the lakers, he needs a player that takes pressure off him. with the lakers he has bryant, with barcelona, he had navarro, with the national team he has navarro and garbo.

when I say that, I mean in the future when Bargs develops. Bargs is putting almost 10 points, 4 rebounds in a terrible sophomore year, I think you can expect those numbers to get pretty high when he starts playing well.

BTW, I dont know what "rose colored glasses" expresion means.

I understand what you mean hermano But imo thats very very very VERY wishful thinking.

Rose colored glasses means you look at everything in a very optimistic way, to the point of foolishness (not to say your a tonto hermano, i respect your opinion, i just dont agree with it)

bosh + Bargnani = swiss cheese defense. Sure, we'll have the best offensive combo, but in the playoffs, teams that can't defend rarely have success.

As much as i love Bosh, he will never be a top scorer in the league, and asmuch as i dislike Barg... well yea, he will never be more then a roll player

So you think Gasol's defence had been better?

What this team needs defence, our guys have enough attack skills already.

Of course Gasol is better, anybody is better than Bosh on defense. At least Gasol is a much smarter player, knows how to pass from the post (hopefully Andreea will get there someday).

Have you ever even watched Gasol actually play or do you have some idealized vision in your head of the type of player he is so you can use it to further your anti-Bosh tirade? Gasol is the furthest thing from clutch, he disapperas in crunch time, he turns the ball over and he is a horrible defender.

Gasol is not a horrible defender, but not a vcery good one either. And yeah, you usually dont want him taking the last shot, thats why he has navarro for.

Gasol's D is another thing thats overrated IMO.
the guy has one thing going for him; his long reach. that is all.
other than that, his D is good, but nothing great.

Gasol is a great player (a haleluya player in my books, I'm a Pau fan). But this team's best player is a PF, and Gasol is a PF too, and both are more skilled to attack than to defend. So we are not going to improve too much with that.

Why Gasol's defence isn't too good:

Gasol avoids fouls (by a lazy defence) because his team need the points and passes he makes.(Magic VS Lakers, Howard was a lot of time on the bench and his team lost).

And now that we are talking about Gasol: I think in LAL that's changing, being the second scorer let him defend harder (translation: Jackson has talked with Gasol about his (no) defence and told him that now he isn't the first dick). Every game I'm more sure about it. Every quarter in the first game.

And no, in our team he wasn't going to do that IMO.
