Raptors Did Colangelo Make The Right Move?

Bryan Colangelo reportedly passed up on a trade to acquire Andre Iguodala from the 76ers. The reported package was:

DeMar DeRozan
Jose Calderon
Ed Davis
First Round Pick

For

Andre Iguodala

Did BC make the right choice by passing on this trade?

I would have done it if we kept the pick.

I am skeptical that this was actually the trade. Remember how we traded that ambiguous first round pick to HOU for Lowry? I think there's a rule that you can't trade consecutive first rounders, so this trade would not have been allowed. Please correct me if I am wrong on this. Unless, of course, this was offered before we acquired Lowry...

Way too much to ask for a fringe star.
AI is overrated. I know stats aren't the world and all, but his and demar's 2012 numbers are very similar. So we'd be giving away 3 solid guys and a #1 (which is essentially Lowry) for iggy?
Good move by BC on saying no. That would've been way too much.

You're mostly right. You can trade your own pick in consecutive years as long as you have another team's first rounder in the second year. So if this trade was after the Lowry trade (doubtful), and Philly threw in a first rounder, this trade could have gone down.

i wouldn't have done it
i'd only lose jose and 1 of the other guys
with the players we got now i'd have been worried to lose demar and jose, don't know what we have after Bargs and lowry on this team just yet, at least we know those 2 guys come with a certain level of skill

I thought this would have been a great deal. The problem isn't giving too much, it's whether Iguodala would have stayed long term.

Doing this deal would also likely mean no Lowry since the pick is included. Keep that in mind.

at this point i think lowry is more valuable than iguodala

doing that deal would have meant no lowry and also losing jose, so we would have no PG
then we'd also have lost our starting SG, so basically it would have meant losing our starting backcourt to get a starting SF
and i feel like iguodala is 1 of those guys that needs to have some half decent players around him to bring out his qualities, especially a good backcourt, it would have been him and Bargs with a young JV
