Yeah lot's of people are from countries and don't have the stereotypical last names of that nation. Europe's boarders were consistently shifting for hundreds of years up until about WWII. That being said, Belinelli is what I would consider a typical Italian last name, so the announcer has no excuse.

I think he meant it as a way of expressing how far out the shot was

Belinelli actually seems to jump over the three point line, so it wouldn't be logical to call that shot "from France". But that just may be the case.

BTW, Bargnani looks more Russian than Italian, especially considering his height.

Actually, Russian men are short compared to other nations'. At 6'4", I'm like a giant when I go back to St. Petersburg. The women are tall and very good looking, though. And besides, Bargs looks nothing like a Russian... he just doesn't have that remnant of the Soviet era shadow on his face.

Спасибо, помог.

А лицо у Андрюхи Барньяни все-таки вполнe славянское. Насчет бабс - согласен.

Bargnani doesn't look like he's Russian. He looks like a typical Northern Italian, though I guess since you rarely encounter them in North America one wouldn't know what to expect. His compatriot Belinelli has the same kind of look, if you think being Italian only pertains to the jersey Shore, Woodbridge or Maple, then you're mistaken.

I am no great expert on Italians, but Beli looks like an archetypal Italian to me. Bargs doesn't. But that's me.

Non of my Italian friends look like the typical Italian stereotype. Except for the big ugly sunglasses.
