Default Dhani: Raptors Nothing Better Than a Seventh Seed

Incase people are wondering who Josh Dhani is, he's a popular Indiana Pacers blogger who recently an interview with "Celtics 17" where he had this to say about the Raptors.

Agree or disagree?

Quote:
Celticsfanatic: You've received a lot of heat in recent comment threads about your thoughts on the Hedo Turkoglu-to-the Raptors deal as well as your opinion on the Lamar Odom situation. Do you stand by your original perception? If not, what made you change your mind?

Josh Dhani: Well, with the Mavericks article, I really didn't need to change my mind because I believe he has a good chance of going there. Even with the buzz of him going to Miami but I still don't think I will change my mind on him with big D.

As for the Raptors article, I think many people believed I was a big Raptors-hater but I wasn't deliberately trying to imply that. Although I did say nothing but negative about Toronto, I think I have changed my mind a bit. Although I still believe Toronto won't make the playoffs next year, I did mention the year after that. I totally messed up on some parts by leaving out other Raptor stars like Andrea Bargnani. And now with Jarrett Jack, I do see them as a playoff-contender now. I really don't know but I think they'll be nothing better than about the seventh seed.

how can you forget about Bargnani when trying to analyze a team and still pretend you know what you're talking about. It's like saying that you forgot about bynum when talking about the lakers. That's a disqualifying admission imo.

Its the offseason and something to talk about. Shall I run everything by you before I try and attempt to start basketball discussions from here on out at RF?

I'm not criticizing you for posting it Doc. Just stating my opinion that if we all get up in arms every time some blogger posts bs about the team we'll drive ourselves nuts. Raptor fans already have a reputation for being over sensitive.

It's absolutely ridiculous that ANYONE would doubt us to make the playoffs next season.

The first 4 (maybe 5) spots in the East are spoken for (ORL, BOS, CLE, WAS, and one more)

The rest are up for grabs.

If someone's going to try and convince me that PHI, ATL, NY, NJ, IND, MIL, DET etc are better than the Raptors then they're going to get a swift kick to the nuts.

i think you can even place the raps in WAS's slot....
WSH seems like they do have deeper team, but a lot of their players are one on one players...i'm not sure theres enough chemistry or shots to go around for them...or that could just be the homer in me talking.

I don't know if Atlanta is actually better than us. When we had everything rolling last season (early on) we were a better team than them.

I still think they need a bench and hope for Horford to develop more of a polished offensive game.

Raptors are better then ATL. It's just that Mike Bibby goes off when he plays the Raps.

That's exactly why I'm skeptical.

Josh, JJ and Bibby can blow up for big numbers at times but I still don't think they're ready to be a top 4 team this season. They still suffer from immaturity.

There are a bunch of teams with a range of possibilities as to where they end up. The one thing you have to look at with the Raptors is less of a reliance on a couple of players, and a whole bunch of players facing a crossroads in their careers and ready to prove something. If there is any kind of chemistry then 7th is going to be more like their basement than their ceiling.

NY and DET are still ehhhh...
Knicks especially, just because of there "ghost" defense and we always seem to match up equally with them.

raptors future is completly up in the air, if turk can be as effective here as he was in magic and Bargnani continues to improve, Raptors can definitly be near the top of the east. Having said that, Bargnani could have peaked, turk may relax with his fat paycheck. And Raptors can be back on their way to the lottery. Its way too early to speculate. And dunt get too offended with Dhani, he gets paid to say things American want to hear. No one on the other side of the border wants to hear Raptors is a good team.
