Default Devlin's TSN2 Update

This is what Matt posted on his blog this morning.

Over the last couple of days I have received numerous emails regarding Raptors games airing on TSN 2 for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. First let me say that I completely understand and appreciate your concerns.

Like many of you, Iím a Rogers customer. I want you to know that I have forwarded all of your emails to the appropriate individuals. Also, I have spent the last couple of days finding out more information so that I can share it with you.

Here's the facts: 25 games will air on TSN2. The first game is on Sunday, November 16 vs. Miami at 1pm. That is one TSN2 game in the first 23 games. The next game after that is Monday, December 15 vs. New jersey at 7pm. Including that game, 10 of the next 26 games will air on TSN2. Starting on Wednesday, February 4 vs. the LA Lakers at 7pm, 14 of the final 32 games will air on TSN2.

Here's the background: Earlier this summer, TSN acquired the rights to broadcast 48 Raptors games this season. As part of the agreement, TSN has the right to air up to 25 of those games on TSN2 on the understanding that the network will be widely distributed.

Hereís the current information: TSN2 is distributed on the majority of cable carriers across Canada. MLSE and the Raptors are confident that TSN will reach an agreement with Rogers Cable in a timely manner. My understanding is that discussions between Rogers Cable and TSN are ongoing.

MLSE and the Raptors, as well as all us involved in the broadcast, realize how vital it is that Raptors games are carried only by network partners that are widely distributed so the vast majority of our fans have access to the games.

If you would like, contact your local cable provider at the start of the Raptors regular season to confirm that it carries TSN2.

As soon as I hear any more information regarding TSN2 I will certainly pass it on.

Have a great weekend. And you can always get in touch, mdevlin@raptors.com.

Dear Bryan:

I am 35 years old willing to play for league minimum and am 6ft tall I am tad out of shape but love Gatorade and can wave a towel really well. I have no game but I do write about basketball and am confident I could school Doug Smith, Eric Smith would be a challenge.

But given the lack of bodies these days I thought you may need me so I wanted to let you know I am available. You can reach me at www.dinonationblog.com

Thanks for your time.

Best Wishes From Dino Blogger
