Yeah - it's a recurring theme every off-season. People are quick to tell fans of Demar how bad he is and how undeserving he is of whatever accolades some praise him with. And then each year Demar shuts those people up. Until the next summer at least. I'm looking forward to Demar making some of those people crawl back under their rocks sometime in November next season.

Great. I always thought his handles were sub-par since the day he was drafted. Even though he improved his handles it was still a bit shaky. Glad to see he acknowledges it and is working on it.

The same Derozan haters are the same people who gave excuses and preached patience with Bargnani. One of the great picks in Raptors history with the No. 9 selection in the 2009 draft. Bargnani is a different story.

Whoa. Maybe you should replace " negativity" with "realism".

Nobody is saying he's bad, rather saying that some of the gushing adulation that gets put up on this board goes over the top. Having orgasms over the wonder of Demar is taking it too far. Thinking he could be MVP of the NBA when he isn't even the MVP of the Raptors-that's Lowry.

The Raptor's offence magnifies the role that Demar plays. That's not his fault, more to the fact that Ross and Valanciunas are still developing. When they're fully ready, Demar's stats will go down because we will have other options. He might not make the all-star team because he'll be playing on a better balanced team that has more weapons at their disposal.

He's a part of our core-at the moment. But this is a business, not a fan club.

That's just bs.. there are many posters who did not like Bargs one bit (myself including) and they are not on Derozan bandwagon. There are also posters who were saying that Bargs is super awesome soon to be nba elite, and they are on DD bandwagon now.
Just because, someone doesn't think Demar is the next Jordan (or soon to be MVP) doesn't make them haters. He has his flaws, and some of them are fairly obvious. The thing is that if someone mentions any of those flaws Demar-extremist will start calling it a blasphemy and throw words like hater.

By the time he is 27 he will be averaging

26/6/5 on 47% Shooting with solid defence and few turnovers

All NBA 1st team

Okay I've said it.... time to run away

but there are extremes on both ends. There are also some who don't acknowledge his achievements at all. He can't shoot, pass, or dribble (sound familiar?) we've heard that so often on here it's sickening.

Nope. You keep saying IF he gets better. Since drafted he has been working his ass off and you are saying IF. You either trolling or just a negative nancy.

No shit, and don't put words in my mouth. I never said he is LBJ or KD.
No one here suggesting that he should stay here until the end of his career. Of course it's a business! But if you think you can get a better SG at this point for the same kind of money without losing other assets you are dreaming.

Yeah man, by the time he's 30 he should be a mix of Jordan/LeBron/Shaq/Magic

Just keeps improving.

Nice to see him working on his handles, but he really needs to focus on improving as a defender.

DD feels he can carry the team as a leader and a player and be the man on the team. Some here feel the same. The others feel he's nothing more but an excellent player but just a complimentary piece to the puzzle - as I do. Now the debate rages but to me, DD doesn't have the "it" factor. I want him too, many here do and he can work his ass off every year of his career and continue to improve as he has but imo, you cannot work yourself into that type of player - either you are or you're not. He's been fed the line since he was drafted that he was and the hope was that he was, everyone here certainly hoped that he was. The ones that still think he can train himself into that role want him to stay. The others that feel he's a complimentary piece are ok with trading him to upgrade. I want an upgrade. Sure, he was an All Star this year but a borderline one imo and if we played in the West - no way. When the East is fully healthy, this year, I doubt it. I don't want to see the team turn into the Nuggets sans 'Melo - a compilation of players that make the playoffs and that's it. Some here feel that's enough so maybe that's a driving force to keep DD. I don't know but I do know I want more. I want to compete for the title or why else are we doing this? Just to be playoff fodder for the contenders? My hair is turning grey enough from my 13 and 15 year old boys.

IMO, if we want to contend then DD has to go. Not for any other reason but how he sees himself on the team. I'm not sure he can step back and take that complimentary role when that's not how he sees himself. As most have stated you need that stud to carry the team into contention and he's not that dude to elevate the team and make everyone better. It's just my truth to the situation and if we can upgrade then DD should be part of the package going out; as the team has become just a little too good to draft the "it" player but far from good to do anything significant in the play-offs. Maybe a miracle will happen and DD will take another "leap" but then, that's been said for how many years now?

I thought maybe MU can build it but so far all I see is MU building another version of the Nuggets without 'Melo. I vacillated between tanking and no tanking but really, Koolaid and DanH are going to end up being correct - we should have tanked when we had the chance before the season started.
