I can see Masai pitching it to D'Alessandro. The benefits and plusses, how great the fit would be, good friends from the Raptors, Demar gets closer to home, and maybe Gay doesn't opt out and go to Miami.

Who is the 'it' player that you want? Lebron, Durant?.

Does Kawhi Leanard have the 'it' factor?

Are you aware of somebody with the 'it' factor waiting in the wings waiting to jump into Demar's role?

And why does he have to the man? Forget speculating that he has been fed anything; cannot he not be a great offensive player on the team and be the co-man??

Why would last season contribute to your hair turning grey? Isn't last season what we want as Raptor fans? Without the strong possibility of not winning a championship, how important would winning a championship really be? Why does having anything but a clear contender drive you nuts?

Cheer for the Heat as a second favourite team. Maybe that's why my hair isn't grey.
Well, maybe a bit.

LikeI said in an earlier post- SAS would want more than Demar to trade Kawhi.

I agreed with you then though not so much on the "it" factor but Kawaii just emphatically proved both points. I'm sure the DD proponents that said not a chance would have to take pause with their comparisons going forward - especially in this thread.

Can someone describe the "it" to me? What the hell is "it"?

If it means he has natural born abilities from the get go, then i think that is way off. I see a humble guy that works extremely hard, plays unbelievably hard, and has a clear understanding of what he needs to do for his team. A guy like DeMar might not be far off of that, though to me they are two very distinct and different players. It's a bit like comparing Noah and Love. Just two very different guys, but both are still extremely valuable. At the end of the day it's the team as a whole that matters, not any "it". If Kawhi starts to play like an "it" he will likely end up like Paul George this season. As an idea to measure up to it's toxic. Just ask any of a half-dozen guys that were supposed to be the next Jordan.

I don't think it's a definable characteristic. You just know it when you see it. It's something that's just there or not there. There's a word in Japanese that means the same thing, and they don't have a definition for the word- "umami".

We like to be able to define things in language to better understand them, but the it we're talking about isn't a thing- it's a feeling,an understanding.

I think the beginning of this coming season is likely status quo on the roster with a couple of tweeks. Good thing because I'm interested to see what Demar has added and Ross, who has been working out with him. At 24, Demar is a vet who you hope can innfluence the work ethic of others. For all we know, Ross' summers may have consisted primarily of video games.

So essentially, the 'it' factor is so fickle that a player can not have it one week but then have it the next. Or perhaps it's just as hard to identify as it is to define. Geez, maybe Demar has a chance after all.

Nah, just didn't think he had it then Kawaii put on a display on both sides of the ball under the most intense pressures surprising me and many (except Niggles and Pop) - I admit I under estimated him. Demar at almost 25 is not even close to Kawaii at 22.

Edit: don't get me wrong, I want DD to be that guy for the raps, I defended him and his play for years. I pulled for him every year, saying the same things you are: hard worker, great work ethic, working on the weak parts of his game, etc. Unfortunately, he's still a fairly 1 dimensional player - if he wasn't MU wouldn't be seeking that defensive wing to offset his limitations. My original post was never about disparaging his game but his mental mindset. I like his confidence and desires to be that player that can make everyone better when it counts but he's not after 5 years so I just feel that can be an impediment to the teams growth long term if he can't adjust. Good thing we had Lowry but if he goes this team will really start tread milling.
