Default derozan will lead us to new heights?

Big D in my opinion can possibly lead us to more heights than bosh. that dinosaur was not a game changing power forward but i feel as if derozan is the real thing. we finally got that potential guard now we have to train him. with his work ethic, he could be one of the greats. this season will be possibly his breakout or breakdown season. with Bosh gone and bargz not showing true leadership signs, it is derozans turn to step it up. if he can average 20 ppg, 4 assists per game he will possibly be a future for the raps. it is now time, once seeing derozan, to surround him with two other all stars, one big man in the possibilty of E.D and a solid point guard which we need to find. If B.C is the man, he will get this done and within 3-5 years, we will be top five in the east. Get it done BC and big D. WE need you. what do you guys think about derozans potential to be the future of the raps?

I don't see Derozan being a franchise type of player. He'll be good but not great. I hope i'm wrong.

Don't burden him with those expectations just yet. With that said he has a high upside.

He has a lot of upside and a good attitude, so it's easy to brim with positivity about his future prospects. Nonetheless, there's no point in getting excited if it doesn't translate on the floor. Let's wait and see what the season will bring with this new (again) squad, because I'm not sure that Raptors nation can handle having their hopes and expectations dashed for yet another season. Keep the expectations low and folks might be happy for a change.

I sense some contradiction here....

If DD is going to be the next big thing in Toronto then he should be able to carry the team on his own WITHOUT any all-stars beside him no?

well as we've seen in great teams, it takes more than one all star to lead a team to greatness. lakers, celtics, not naming a certain sunny city "cough cough" san antonio in their prime, etc. toronto needs to get that back. with help for DD we can be great. we just gotta find some kobes who like snow 8 months of the year

I agree with you 100%.

Just didn't quite get where the shot against Bosh came from considering he had none of what you're asking for now for DD.

20 points are you high, and 3-5 years top 5 your predictions are sporadic no way in hell he averages 20 unless we want to run our entire offense through him which would probably get us like 12-15 wins. and its kind of sad that in 3-5 years you can only hope for top 5:facepalm:

Good but not great, you have no idea what you're talking about... If anything, DeRozan is the one good thing the Raptors have going for them.

DD has amazing potential, backed up by an even better work ethic. I just love how he always thrive to be better. I think he's going to be an all-star caliber player.

That being said, I don't think he's a franchise player because he doesn't have a killer instinct. I don't see him as the guy who scores 10 straight points in the 4th quarter to win a game for his team.

Well him Sonny and Bargnani and say ed davis, should be a good group. But i think Bargnani will be the franchise player, because he can score in so many ways. I dont see why Bargnani cant be at 22ppg, and derozan at like 20ppg.

He plays at one speed and can't dribble. His jumper is inconsistent and he lacks range. The dribbling has improved, but he doesn't change speeds, he's always going fast which makes him predictable. His jumper is better and his range is certainly improving. If he fixes those I don't see why 18 points couldn't happen. But this year he'll be stuck near 14/15 considering he'll play 30+ minutes. Franchise player has yet to be seen. How many saw Bosh as the "franchise" in his seconds year, yet Vince was still here, but still he seemed like a really good rebounder who could score mid-teens. So keep that in mind people.
