Default DeRozan will be gone

If Raps don't have wining season before his contract runs out, he's gone. Raps need to start building around him. Bargs is terrible and should be moved to PF or moved out period.

I have lost faith in BC ability to build a good team. We're the Clippers East.

I completely agree with him leaving, I think he will go if we dont make it to the playoffs atleast once and he sees that the team is getting better

I don't blame anyone for wanting to leave, horrible management/ownership, bad coaching, and no talent to speak of other than 2-3 players who are still a year or 2 away (maybe more) away.

I think BC is good but if seriously doesn't want to trade Bargs, then he needs to leave.

DeRozan's rookie contract isn't up until the summer of 2014. 2014! There is lot of time to start building on this solid core and start winning some games. Patience is a virtue.

Raps made the playoffs only once when Bosh was here for 7 years.

Not that it's that much more, but they actually made it twice.

What exactly does Demar do apart from scoring to making him the future of our franchise or build around him? His rebounding and assist numbers are poor. In fact, he assists as much as Bargnani. He won't ever be an elite player, despite recent improvements in offense his defense still leaves a lot to be desired. He has a good mid-ranged game no doubt but there are a lot of players that can be signed in the league who can put up similar numbers and will ask for less than Demar will ask for when he comes out of his rookie contract.

Also, don't compare Demar to Bargnani. Hate him all you want but Bargnani is a rare player. That's why there's only one player in the league that's anything like him and he's an All-Star and probably Hall of Famer (When comparisons are being made) Demar however, is a commoner on our own team. There are so many Demar's in this league, and to be honest I see him more as a guy who comes off the bench and puts up solid minutes than a starter who can actually lead a team anywhere.

Assists are determined upon having your players score. When your other wing player is Julian Wright, what are you gonna do? He's not hitting any mid-range game but that's neither here nor there.

The position which DeMar plays, it's primary role is to score. Not rebound, not rack up assists. Just score. He does that and he's doing it well.

Rebounding from the guard position, it's a nice thing, but really you need to get that from your 3 to 5 positions.

Also, I take into the fact that he's 21 and he's already a better defender than he was last year. Give him 2 more years and then I'll argue that he could be one of the better defenders at the 2. I'll be interested to see what he'll be like when he reaches his physical prime.

Some of you guys need to realize that playing defense in the NBA takes time to master. It isn't an overnight thing. Even Bruce Bowen sucked when he first came in. Ray Allen was a terrible defender in his early career. It takes time.

Seriously what do you expect to build? No FA will want to play here unless they're overrated during the offseason and overpayed and even then they just slack off.

Or go the useless trade rout with the only assets we have are the ones we'd have to keep.

Face it. Until something seriously changes, we can't build.

My as well just move the Raps to Vegas and call it a day then. I know that there isn't much now, but you never know what our roster could look like in a few years.

Derozan right now is looking like the Bargnani of wing players. Remember back in the 08/09 season Bargs went off after the new year. Everyone here was like f Bosh and lets build around bargs. Same is happening with Demar. There situtations are quite similar, Bargs can't rebound or post up for a big man and demar can't shoot or handle the ball properly for a wing player.

Im loving derozan's productivity. He is my fav raptor and is fun to watch and we finally have a wing scorer. However, he hasn't proven that he can be the one you build a team around. Here's hoping he proves me wrong.

Part of being a franchise player, like the one the OP is supposedly trying to market DeRozan as, means that you need to make players around you better. Does he even show signs of this? Right now his game is all about Demar getting the ball, shooting or driving to the rim.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that Demar has to turn Wright into Kobe or Durant, but Demar is a guard, and is also the secondary facilitator of the ball when the PG is under duress and his TO ratio is 1:1 with his assist ratio.

It's not impossible to find a player like DeRozan who will be able to do the exact same thing. He is not irreplaceable or a player we should build around.
