I'm impressed with Davis:

January- 7.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, 66.3 FG% (amazing), 1.4 blocks in 22mpg with only 2.8 fouls per.

When he's played 29 minutes or more- 11.8ppg, 10.2rpg, 1.4 blocks, 59 FG%

odds are that Blake Griffin will actually be named an All Star reserve, and if thats the case, he wont be in the rook/soph game... so maybe Davis will get a shot.

i forgot about his injury. good to know JT isn't risking anything with him. Davis seems fine and is developing nicely, cant wait to see him log more minutes next season

and why the hell would he even want to? the all star game is the big draw, the rook/soph game is nothing really.

Didn't VC play in both?

Ed Davis: 6.5 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 1.16 BPG, 58% FG% in 21.6 MPG on the 13-36 Raptors.
Greg Monroe: 6.8 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 0.41 BPG, 51% FG% in 23.7 MPG (6.2 P, 5.7 R, 0.38 B per 21.6 minutes) on the 17-31 Pistons.

Similar points and rebounds numbers, significantly more blocks and higher FG% in slightly fewer minutes, on a team en route to 22 wins versus a team en route to 29 wins. Points and rebounds are things that are easily come by on a bad team (especially with a lower FG%, Greg), but blocks are not.

An argument can easily be made...

Oh, and to add Favors to the discussion:
6.6 PPG, 5 RPG, 0.7 BPG, 55% FG% in 19.3 MPG (7.4 P, 5.6 R, 0.8 B per 21.6 minutes) on the 15-34 Nets (en route to 25 wins).

So Davis is under in points, but better in every other category (in blocks, rebounds, and FG%, which are big man traits) on a team that is about the same level (22 vs 25 projected wins).

so all three are pretty close, but favors and monroe are higher picks and come from teams with more wins

davis should have made it before favors
monroe is playing well lately
the injury is hurting davis

doesn't matter, it's a lot more important to make the sophomore team, like derozan

Yes, they are pretty close if you value only points and rebounds - otherwise, if you care about things like FG% and blocked shots, he is pretty clearly doing better.

To demonstrate with more stats:
Davis - 15.9 PER, +15 (ORTG-DRTG), 12.3 USG%, 8.3 TOV%
Monroe - 15.1 PER, +5 (O-D), 14.5 USG%, 14.5 TOV%
Favors - 13.7 PER, +3 (O-D), 16.5 USG%, 14.7 TOV%

The fact that he was a lower pick and is hanging with them (and clearly exceeding their production, with less usage and lower turnovers) should give him an advantage should it not?

Didn't VC first year when there was a lockout(for small part of season) and there was no All-star game?

What about his 2nd year? I think he made the all-star game but didn't play in the rookie-sophomore game. Also was in the dunk contest that year.

Just noticed that Evan Turner was left off the Rookie team. If Griffin doesn't play, I wouldn't guarantee that Davis gets his spot. Turner should be considered...

i think when VC was in his 2nd year it was 1 of the first years the rookie/soph game existed and back then the rule was he couldn't play in the rookie if he made the allstar team

but that changed after for some reason, i think chris paul did both his second year, maybe yao ming did too

East Ed Davis to Rookie-Sophomore game?

Griffin is an all star so I believe he can't participate in Rookie-Sophomore game any more. Will Davis replace him?

He can still play in it but he will most likely skip it now since he is the dunk contest and all-star game.

LeBron James in 2005 played as a sophomore and then also played in the all-star game.
