Derozan: Next year will be different

Quote:

After 133 games in a Raptors' uniform and 66 home games, RealGM asked DeMar DeRozan about his thoughts on the team's fan base as they have dealt with the departure of Chris Bosh and a disappointing 10-11 season.

"Their passion is definitely there," said DeRozan. "I think everybody realizes the impact of this past free agency slowed us down on where we wanted to be. It's just to get through this year and next year will be different."

DeRozan expressed support for general manager Bryan Colangelo and hopes he remains with the Raptors.

"Me personally, I love Bryan," said DeRozan to RealGM. "He drafted me and whatever happens I'll still support him. I hope (he comes back)."

DeRozan also believes the Raptors have strong pieces already in place that are worth building around.

"I know for a fact Bryan will do a great job with the key guys we have now to make us better."

DeRozan, Ed Davis and Jerryd Bayless are either 21 or 22, while Amir Johnson is just 23. Andrea Bargnani has been in the NBA since the 06-07 season, but he is still just 25.

To be fair Derozan didn't say anything about any players.

He has the right attitude. Hopefully everyone else does also and this team surprise some people next year with their play.

This the exact same Bullshit Colangelo said when we were losing non stop, the 2nd half of last season. I remember he said , that if Bosh left, this raptor team will not be the same as it was back then, and will be better for the next season. Well guess what, Bosh left, and the toronto raptors are just as bad as last yeers 2nd half. BC makin up garbage statements. Why shud i beleive this 1???

Derozan could have easily fall to 13 or 14 in the draft

Charlotte liked Henderson, they prefered him over Derozan, Bucks need a PG, Derozan is just so Raw even now and he averaged almost 16 ppg, that just sounds ridiculous what kind of ceiling this guy has

jrob23 02-19-2011 10:07 AM

hopefully next season we can compete, wont gonna happen until we address PG and SF issues though (and to a lesser degree at C as well with Bargnani's incompetence on the boards and D)

very hard to believe that we can address all those issues in one off-season

basically we're only good at SG and PF lol.

MISAM38 02-19-2011 03:46 PM

All we need is a C , and a decent PG. Move bargnani to the pf slot. I dont understand why ppl are sayin we need an Sf??? That position is the least important in basketball IMO, because it just someone who could do a lil bit of everthing, which an SG already can do, which Demar already does. We dont need to go out and find an SF- the position is overrated. Kleiza is fine as it is.

Yep. That is what made him slip. So Raw and has a lot to learn from playing the game.

But almost every scout you ask they said this guy could end up being one of the two best player in the draft in the end.

Just imagine what he'll be capable of when he gets some range on his shot.
