But i think he understands what he needs to do to be more impactful, even as this team evolves.

As for him taking pullup j's, that should hardly be caused by double teams in today's nba, where there is often very little room to maneuver in the paint. We saw DeMar get to the basket with no problem last night. Was that because his handles suddenly improved? Or was it because Anthony Davis wasn't waiting there? The truth is that he has done a good job of finding openings to at least get freethrows, and when there is nothing there he makes the pass or takes the pullup.
lot of people where pooping on Lowry last season.

Anyway as I already said I don't argue that DD has average handle's ( I don't necessarily agree thought) what I did argue was pzabby saying Demar and MJ have similar games. The difference in dribbling skills is ridiculous, so their games are much different

There were a lot of people making excuses for Lowry too. He needed to make the adjustments he made this season, and get in better shape.

The good news is that this team is headed in a good direction. And that should mean that pitting players against each other makes little sense, whereas any claims could be made when looking at any one player to lead the team out of the darkness, or blame any one player for creating that darkness. It's really about the cohesion and executing a gameplan together. The growth in the awareness of that need in most all of the players here has made ideas of anyone needing to go a relic of the past. It's going to be more about how they need to play and adjust together now.

DeMar should not be the #1 option if your aspiration is to win a championship, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be on this team. He's still a great building block.

I agree, but I think its a matter of looking at the overall roster. If he isn't a #1 option for a championship team and you want to keep him then which player/position would you say should be replaced or made the #1 option. I think most people would agree that the team should keep Lowry at PG. In that case I don't think Lowry would be a better #1 option. JV is looking like he will be the C of the future. He looks like he will be a core player but I think most people would agree that he too isn't a #1 option and that in this age of the NBA a C isn't really going to be a #1 option. This leaves only the other wing position and the PF position. These are potential positions to be #1 options but you would need to get someone a lot better at SF than DeMar to make that a useful move and that would probably mean sacrificing Ross cuz I don't think you can keep his 3 point shooting or his defense off the court. Right now his D and Lowry's D allows Demar to take the worse perimeter opponent. We could go the PF route but I don't really see many teams giving up their star PF. In order to get any of those I would have to say DeMar might have to be the one to go. I don't see a straight up FA signing of these level of stars.

Maybe we don't need a glorified number one option a la the Pistons or Spurs to win a championship

But they don't have a glorified number one option. And a lot of the individual greatness grew out of how they play the game and the overall culture. A strong team game can do a lot to make individual players look good.

Who said we have to build around him? He's a great piece.

While he was not glorified, he's still one of the greatest players ever to set foot on the basketball court. Without him they wouldn't have been the force they were. His impact on both sides of the floor were essential to their success.
