Default derozan gets into the MVP ladder

Race to the MVP Ladder | NBA.com

9th spot

DD averagine 24-5-5 in his last 12 games

I dont like making comparisons but that's getting to Kobe level production.

Please. No. This is why Derozan gets so much hate, because he was compared to Bryant. He will never be near that level. He is Derozan, and that's enough.

Look at the numbers before going off. Is 24-5-5 not near Kobe numbers? Kobe averages higher ppg and is obviously a much better offensive player and defensive player but the numbers aren't that far off

Lowry's flu forced probably them to switch DeRozan into his spot.

But honestly, the way he's been playing he deserves the recognition. I really hope he makes the all star team. It seems like it would mean a lot to him, and would be encouraging to see a Raptor out there with the premier players in the league. Not sure if he deserves it more than Lowry, probably doesn't, but i'd rather have one of our guys tied to a long term deal represent us than one who's future is uncertain.

Glad to see DeMar getting some love.

yes, except kobe needed far fewer shots for those points and was a lockdown defender when he was demar's age. other than that, same thing

for us, the ideal scenario would be for demar to make it and lowry to miss it. Not fair, but we need demar's value to be high and lowry's low

Yes, Kobe is a better player by far but let's not get crazy with the bolded statements.

What's so crazy about them? Kobe was a great defender back in his day, and was more efficient than DeMar is.

Kobe Bryant NBA & ABA Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

kobe shot .46 fg percentage at age 23. he also shot .25 from three.

far more efficient?

in terms of defence, I concur, it's not even close. but in terms of offensive production, it's not that far off.

and let's not forget that kobe at 23 was playing with arguably the best center in the history of the game. where as demar is playing with a talented, but still raw, and not comparable to shaq, JV.

If kobe can be compared to Mike then DeMar can be compared to kobe i suppose.

I guess, if you compare them at the same age. And if Demar could do that over 82 games, like Kobe did ...
It's funny though, because for some reason, demar's game always reminded me a bit of kobe. Still, it's not just the stats and defense, kobe was a better ball handler and shot creator. And playing with someone like shaq is not necessarily a good thing for a guy who needs space to be efficient.

That's fine.. but he wasn't 24 winning MVP's.. so that is not a fair comparison.
Demar kind of reminds me of Kobe.. his poise, and rarely forces his game
