You made the all-summer league team. Seemed like a fun time?
- That was a lot of fun. Getting the chance to play with a lot of young guys that we drafted this year, Ed Davis, Solomon, a couple other friends - B. Brown, Dorsey. Playing with Sonny, it's always fun. I had a great time playing in Vegas.

What are the goals of the team there? What do they want to see from you?
- Basically things in game situations that I didn't get a chance to work on the previous year. Having the ball more, my outside shooting, a lot of little things that I didn't get the chance to do last year. They want to see me out there, see how I handle it. Everything went well.

You talked about Sonny, Amir. You guys call yourselves the Young Guns. Got a nice little trio there, huh?
- Definitely. I think the whole city is excited to see us, what we have to bring next year. It should be real fun.

Chris Bosh isn't coming back. Talk to us, what the feeling among the team and when you found out that Chris was going to make his way to Miami. And the way he did it. What did you think?
- It was tough. I twas fun playing with a great player like Chris bosh. But at the same time, being a free agent at the same time as two other great players, having the opportunity to team up with them, not too many superstars would turn that down. The opportunity to have a team like that. I'm happy for him, but at the same time I wish I could have had the opportunity to play with him.

What were NBA players thinking about Bosh, LeBron and the whole special on ESPN?
- It made it more intense, the whole free agency. LeBron did his decision, with Chris Bosh deciding to play with D. Wade. Had the whole world waiting to see what LeBron would do. I twas real intense and interesting. It was something I'd never seen. It was crazy how it went down.

What do you think of Twitter when it comes to getting your message out? Do players talk about that a lot?
- You know, I use it more as fun. To communicate with my fans. I think business-wise, I try to stay away from it. Communicate with who personally I have to instead of going via Twitter or via Facebook or what a lot of players do these days. I like to keep everything in-house, figure things out that way. I think it makes it more complicated when you go via Twitter so I try to stay away from it too much.

You've bulked up?
- Definitely. That really helped me. In taking contact, getting to the basket easier, handling the ball stronger, I feel a lot stronger than what I did last year.

When you turn over a roster like this team has, you're just in the infancy of your career, Turk is going to the Suns, Calderon still technically on the team, but lots of changes. As a younger player here, do the Raps talk to you about the expectations and where you're going to fit in?
- Definitely. They talk to me a lot during Summer League, what they wanted to see from me, what they expect from me this season. They're going to ask for a lot from us. I'm willing to step up to the plate and take on that challenge.

What's your summer plan?
- You know, I'm just chilling at home, enjoying my time with my family. If I'm not out in the gym or on the court, I'm chilling with my family. Because once it's time to get back to work, it's time to get back to work.

Some people forget how young you are. Focus will be on young players. Does that excite you?
- Oh yeah, definitely. I think it really makes you want to work and step up to the challenge that much more. The onus is on you now. Especially young guys, because we have a chance to be here for a while. I think just giving the city the opportunity to see us grow and develop as players and as people, that's big.

There are a lot of Raptors fans in this city. Talk to us about talking to the fans. There's a little bit of paranoia here about NBA players liking Toronto and embrace being a Raptor.
- I noticed that this past year. You really can't blame at the same time, with a lot of the great players who came through the city and always left in a mysterious way. But the team just embraced the players that come into the city. I think that's the loyalty that the city has. It's great. I love it. That's why I love being connected to the city. I love going out, seating at the restaurant, seeing fans out, communicating with them. I love it.

Perception of Toronto? Do people like it?
- Oh yeah. So many NBA players love Toronto. Love coming into Toronto for various reasons -- to play, go out, see the city. I haven't heard one bad thing from other players about the city at all.

If in fact this is the kind of guy he is, then it's a great great match for the people of Toronto because they love their athletes.

Hopefully he is a great player because if he is, he's the kind of guy Toronto LOVES.

We hear this all the time from Raptors players... who gives a shit really?

There being interviewed by a Toronto radio station/newspaper/tv station whatever... what are they going to say? Bad mouth the city?

And even after a player leaves... (USUALLY)... they never bad mouth the city or the fans ever... they be professional say the city is great, fans are passionate and move on to the next question...

These questions are asked every fucking time and its getting boring... who cares... we still cant attract big time FA's even if we had the $$$ or assets to acquire them...

I kinda like that he acknowledges how lots of our good players leave in a suspect way.

All in all sounds like a good interview.

What else is he gonna say. Have you ever heard a player say that most NBA players hate Toronto?

BTW Roger Lajoie should have been fired instead of the others.

Us attracting "big time FAs" has nothing to do with the city of Toronto.

People don't consider us because we're just not that good.... so the only way TO get a decent player to come here (Hedo, Barnes etc...) is to overpay.

And you're not getting a top 10 player to come here willingly as a FA. Now more than ever before they're looking for teams that are well-built (with players that can help them carry the load).

And frankly... that isn't us. At least.... not yet.

Not in so many words..... but between Sam Cassell and Kendall Gill... Alonzo Mourning... Antonio Davis.... Toronto has taken a bit of a beating in the past.

DD could have said nothing at all. I'm glad that at least he's doing his part to promote the team and the city. Now if we could only string some wins together we just might get a little more attractive to FAs in the future.

You should know better by now...if he says something good it's because he has no other choice. If he says something bad he'll get crucified and booed for the next 10 years.

Raptors players can't win with the fans no matter what they do.

I agree. But when it comes to this touchy subject, i love hearing what he said but as soon as the question was asked i and everyone could have predicted what he said almost word for word. It's great to hear, but like i said he wasn't gonna say otherwise. Mind you i do think NBA players really like the city. Doesn't mean they wanna play here. Which i guess is a seperate issue.

Definitely a good kid and he doesn't have to become some super star to be beloved and have a permanent place in Toronto like Mo Pete and Alvin Williams. Hope the fandom does not attack the kid to do "MORE! NOW!" out of frustration with the franchise.

Sorry to wax poetic, but it's nice to have money and fame, but to have a place out there somewhere that you can always go back to where everyone remembers you and gives a care how you are doing is great. Your old school, your old team, uour old town. Facebook and classmates are making a mint from that sentiment. Demar, we can be your facebook BFFs.
