Derozan confirms he's in the dunk contest

Didn't know it had already been decided?

Quote:
"The best part of the night for me was talking to DeMar DeRozan who confirmed that he will be participating in the dunk contest during All-Star weekend in February (remember SLAMonline broke that news first) and he said that he had “Some s**t,” so everybody get ready. He didn’t seem to be up on dunk contest history too much because he asked me if any rookies had ever won it. I told him that JR Rider won when he was a rookie, as well as Kobe Bryant and Gerald Green. But it was no big deal; I just liked the way that he was thinking. Raptor Nation, you may have another dunk title coming your way real soon."

Great to see the kid get this chance. Just hope he goes for it with some early nasty dunks because Jamario held back at the start and it cost him.

Ok I understand the moon comparisons at the beginning of the season when we hadn't got a chance to see him play all that much... But I think it's time to stop them. DeRozan has shown us the mentality of a slasher. He might not have the greatest handles yet, but his bball iq looks wayyyyyy better than anything we ever saw from moon so I think it's time to ease up boys

He's got some showtime in him, that's for sure. It's pretty apparent that his confidence level slashing to the rim and elevating is increasing every game and as his comfort level rises you'll start to see him get more creative with his finishes. I for one can't wait to see him get out on the break and throw down a foul windmill.

He has a few months to prepare. Should be interesting to see what he does to be creative.

who said he wants to distance himself from Vince? I'm sure he'd rather emulate Vince's good days when he was in Toronto.

Vince's nickname here was "Air Canada" in his good years... and "Wince" in his final year.

I agree about getting rid of this 'Heir Canada' business. The guy needs his own nickname, not one that references another player who used to play for the same team.

At least Shannon Brown has a creative nickname : /

"Shan-wow"

We need chuck back just for a nickname, then we can send him back to Chicago.
