Question DeRozan>Bargnani?

Who would you choose to build your team around at this point?

Is it safe to say that Demar is developing at a pace that will soon make him a better player than Andrea?

Discuss.

demar, since SG since its a wing position as to a paint position i.e. its worst if you give up easy layup than easy JS as the % chance of a JS dropping to a layup is statistically lower. and i'm going to go out on a limb and say aldridge was the best player from the bustargi draft. hes good defensively and offensively.

Me and my brother were discussing this last night but not in terms of who's the better player but in terms of just strict player development.

DeRozan seems to be learning the game a bit quicker, especially on the offensive end and adding moves. He's also becoming comfortable with a certain range but he's not simply relying on one aspect of his game to get himself going.

Bargnani in his second year (I believe he had an appendectomy that year) was more inconsistent than anything. While I get that he was learning a new position and being jilted around, he seemed to be stagnant.

Just acquire quality assets, instead of catering to and surrounding a certain player with specialized pieces. Build with, not around.

derozan will be taking over games in no time

From what I saw last night Bargnani was being ignored more than usual in favour of Demar..but he showed the will to take the challenge as well. I still think Bargnani is a more skilled player. He has more polish and can do more things. Demar has a better attitude though. He's a grinder, an attacker who knows he can't just finesse his points from anywhere and works for them. He's still limited offensively but his attitude makes up for that. I think they compliment each other rather well.

Well said.

We put way too much time and thought into who our best player is, and who's gonna be the next big thing... each of our players has a use, so let's use 'em. Who cares which one can "carry the team". None can. The team carries the team, and they need to straighten their shit out as a whole.

I would choose Derozan. Bargs has already reached his plateau. By next season Demarr will emerge as the unquestioned and unrivaled top player on the squad.

IMO lets put it this way... I'd like to keep both, both are relatively productive for their salaries...

But if 1 were to be traded, I would rather trade Bargnani for a better front court and keep DD as SG instead of vice versa

there is no comparison here. i'm happy with both of them - i like how nicely their skill-sets complement one another.

the overriding belief this offseason was that andrea would be the be-all end-all go to guy during crunch time. i remember last season there was an awkward sense of obligation to force the ball into chris Bosh in the fourth and it made things stagnant and on the whole less effective. i like that demar isn't sacrificing his game and his effectiveness to dump Bargnani the ball, but rather assessing what the defense is giving him and acting. jack couldn't stop talking last night about how, despite his 20+ nights recently, how great of a teammate demar has been. i couldn't agree more.

DeMar's game is really coming together quite quickly

offensively, his mid range is much nicer, he has a lot more moves to get to the basket, finishing better with more control, defensively he's doing a lot better and creating steals/getting blocks, basically his game is progressing like we expected it to by taking him 9th overall

Bargnani on the other hand, offensively he's more impressive, but other than that, i see absolutely no progression at all, rebounding and defensively, i'm a big fan of his but this is really disappointing as i thought Bosh was a part of the reason why he was so bad, but he's not any better playing with Amir or Joey, i almost think we need to trade him while he still has a lot of value

i want to believe that ed davis can be the guy to compensate for bargnani's deficiencies on the defensive side of things, but bargnani's such a fucking idiot that i'm starting to think bill russell in his prime wouldn't help the cause.

Isn't this a little bit too much? He's only not a good defensive player

demar has a much better work ethic. I think in terms of pure potential, Bargnani had better tools, but demar is more likely to reach his ceiling, while andrea has pretty much no chance of ever doing that.

if both would get as good as they could be, Bargnani would be better. In real life though, demar will end up as the more superior player, as early as next season.

Demar will shine as a superstar before this season is over. He is getting better every game. I notice him workin on his ability to get to the rim allot more.

I say we not build around any one player. I loved the fact that the pistons champoionship team a few years back had no designated go to guy. They had several peices that would go off on any given night consistently. A great team oriented style play.

One thing i noticed last night a few times was the give the ball to Bosh play. But instead of Bosh holding the ball for too long, it was Bargnani. His decision making skills need to be imporved aso he can be a little quicker.
