More I see him, more I'm convinced DeRozan is quietly 2nd-best SG in the East. He just doesn't get much attn in Toronto
Always nice to hear outside opinions of our players. You mad brahs?

Yeah why not? He's pretty efficient, rebounds, gets to the line, and plays hard on both ends of the court (somethings he's improved on a lot). Joe Johnson is regressing, Monta is inefficient and a defensive liability, Paul George is pretty good but not on Demar's level just yet.

This tweet caused rage over on another site I post on with the million DD-haters going insane that someone would dare praise Derozan. Some boneheaded moron even said Lou Williams was better. lol

Wade is hands-down the best. I'm not sure he's top 2, but he's definitely top 3. A case could be made that Paul George is better at this point. Monta Ellis gets assists, but his offensive efficiency is atrocious. It's a tough call, I'd err towards Paul George slightly over DD because he's having a great overall season and his team is doing quite well. I think DD's scoring ability is better though.

The crummy facts are that if players like DD or Paul George were playing in NY or Chicago and putting up those kind of numbers they would be shoe-ins for the all-star game.

If we just had a better record that would matter more.

I think a lot of NBA analysts are beginning to realize how flawed our roster is/was with Bargnani, no legit SF, rookie C starting, holding back Ed Davis, etc. We're finally getting things right now and doing well and they're getting a chance to evaluate players like DD and see they are actually good players.

Demar has definitely improved in defense, rebounds, ball handling and assists this year. Any poster who says he's a below average SG isn't watching the games.

I firmly believe that the Raptors aren't going to get better though trades and need to rely on internal growth. It's a lot of fun to watch Demar get better.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but someone might question whether Paul George is a SG anymore.

What's scary is that Ross may be even better. Project where he may be in his 4th year- athletic, deadly shooter, and a lock down defender.

He's certainly up there. There are a few other good candidates. But I'd give DeMar a slight edge right now.

It also shows the sorry state of East guards this season. I can see an argument for DeMar as #2 in the East, but would he be top 10 overall?

True, I'll be honest I don't watch the Pacers and I'm only going off his stat sheet. They had him listed as a SG.

The only thing holding Ross back is he's coming in a bit older than usual and his ball-handling seems pretty awful right now. I haven't seen him take anyone off the dribble. Hopefully he can improve it. I think him and DD will be awesome side by side.

One thing about DeMar is that he gradually and continuously improves. That dude has a good work ethic.

Older than what? They won't get much time side by side unless one of them is switched to SF.

George has been playing the 3 mostly, and I think he is much better than DeRozan.

He's coming into the league at 21 when DD came in at 18 or 19. Ross' upside isn't nearly as big.

If he can handle it, I'd hope they can groom Ross for SF. Demar has made strides at SG as he has gotten bigger and better. Ross' defense beside Demar would be great, but I'd be worried about him getting mauled, at least early in his career by freight trains like LeBron.

Their age difference is so small it means shit. Ross has a bigger upside and that does not mean that Derozan doesn't have a big upside himself.

Yeah, he's definitely been playing SF this year. The Pacers usually start Stephenson or Green at SG. Where George really belongs and where he plays in the future is perhaps open to debate, but I think he's a SF. We'll see what they do with Granger.

Either way, George is a more complete player than Derozan. Even when George doesn't score, he can have a huge impact on the game by defending, or by contributing double digits in rebounds or assists. You already know this, though.
