Default Demar at small forward

Should we try demar at the 3? I mean he is 6'7", has the tools and I believe he played small forward at usc. I don't believe in the whole "a SG needs to be able to shoot" bs but it would be interesting to see how demar performs as a forward. With the potential to draft a SG and our desperate need for shooters, it's more realistic that we'll actually get guys like Courtney lee or Reddick before we even have chances at batum, gay, and iggy.

Do you really want DeMar guarding LeBron, Melo or Durant?

He barely has the size and strength to guard 2s, having him move to 3 as a starter would be a disaster.

every. single. time Lebron/melo/durant problem pops up. Only a few select players can guard them and nobody can stop them.
For all I know Demar is better at guarding bigger slower guys, because his lateral quicks are not that good and he does get caught in screens chansing faster players

He played a lot of SF this year and I can't say it was bad
But the other wing player must be a good shooter if only just to spread the floor

demar can't guard a chair,

his best role would be coming off the bench but this guy seems to think he is the next kobe, and that where okc north, the guy is delusional

did he steal your girlfriend?
I mean, there are bigger problems on our team, why so much hostility towards Demar?

Casey started JJ at SF, and it wasn't because of his offense...

The quickness vs size argument doesn't hold, because the same argument can be made for DeMar playing C.

Basketball is a game of match ups, and the match ups aren't consistently good for DeMar at SF, though he can play SF against smaller line ups and against SFs that don't have much in the way of post offense.

You can run him in a 3 guard set, I think that would work good. But to be a legit SF, he'd need about 25 lbs. 6' 7" is kinda pushin' it with Demar, he's more like a 6' 5' explosive guard.

They list Batum at 6' 7". That's some BS, he's more like 6' 9", and just barely enough meat on his bones to bang it inside.

No...he's a two guard..if he gets stronger they could try it but at the moment no.

Its kind of like Bargnani...he's always been a Power Forward,or best suited there..they use him at C because he's 7'0 and even tried him at SF because of his range but he always has and always will be a PF. Its better they don't move around DD and leave him at SG

Players fill out when they get older. Demar needs competition, especially a player who plays defense. I wish JJ had a jump shot.

JJ is more versatile than DD and could actually have a role on a playoff team while DD wouldn't.

JJ is more versaitale than DD defensively, but the less JJ does offensively, the better for the team.

DD isn't versatile offensively and loves to emulate his back court mate on d. JJ can handle the ball much better than DD can, that's a problem.

JJ is a turnover waiting to happen. He plays bad when he forces his game on the offensive end, doesn't have a consistent jumper, doesn't get to the rim, and doesn't get to the free throw line. Demar is the only player who gets to the line on a consistent basis.

height wise he might pass, but he would be abused by stronger forwards and would probably run into injury problems. Offensively it would work well though.

DD gets to the line - true, can't deny that. DD has an average mid - range shot. BUT, that's basically it, he contributes next to nothing else on offense and on D it's much worse.

I think that is what you basically need from your wing player. A jumper and the ability to to get to the rim and the line. There are only few wing players that can play point and intitate the offense and make the right decision (Lebron, Wade, Pierce, Harden etc.). Those type of players are All-Star players.

DD is just still so very raw. He is a pure scorer who has trouble scoring.

this explains to me why we should have demar play small forward. you're trying to characterize demar due to his height and strength limitations rather than his skill set.

there should be absolutely no reason that he can't play both positions next year. they're very interchangeable positions based on match-ups. also, when you're talking about demar having issues on the defensive end, you have to look at the issues he'd give opposing teams on the offensive end. a quicker player is more acceptable to getting fouled than a stronger/slower player.

look i just don't think demar is going to get much better then he already is, i think he is maxed out on is abilities,

if he ever learns how to dribble and d up then i'll change my mind about it him, i don't even care about him shooting 3's i would prefer him to stick at what he is good at and thats the mid range

with demars lack of dribbling it effects the game in two ways, turnovers and no ability to get into the lane and dunk in traffic which he rarely does, it puts no pressure on the defense, and makes it easy to guard,

as a guy who gets majority of the minutes you have to be more effective,

if he came off the bench he would be better suited, playing less talented players he could take advantage of that
