I picked under.
With the same conditions as last year, Demar would easily be increasing his PPG to around 20.
I'm hoping that with team focus on defense due to Casey, and the emergence of other contributors like Davis and Bayless ... Demar may not be able to get to 20 pts per game. Hoping he can develop into an overall player on both ends of the court.

He will jack up a ton of threes and by the end everyone will want him to stop.
I rather see improvement and passion on defensive end than 20 ppg.

totally.

everybody's focus will be on D surely? we were rubbish at it last year and the new coach likes to focus on D. If we play a slightly slower game now (won't neccesarily be the case(y),) DD should still improve his % and i'm hoping Casey will still green light him taking more shots.

I see what some people are saying about more of a team game, better all-round team, more focus on D but i still think DD will better last season's ppg. Not sure it's that important to discuss the magical 20pt mark, he will get there one day. I'm going for 19.9ppg at 48%!

I'd like to see DD get in on a little more two man game... if his ball handling has indeed improved of course. I found much of his offensive game was part of stagnant offensive sets mostly.

I'd also hope that he's working on catching and shooting and not just shooting off the dribble. Seems like the Raps have had issues knocking down open shots off catch and release situations.... or maybe I've just watched too much losing basketball. It'd be nice to have more guys that can hit outside shots without having to pound the ball so much. I notice Bayless is much better when catching and being set already compared to trying to create his own three pointer.....

I've rambled.... somebody should have cut me off cause I obviously have nothing to say and am simply bored by the lack of basketball news...

I actually think with Sonny gone, DD can flourish.... after thinking about it more.

i think you're right when you mentioned seeing too much losing basketball, players fall into bad habits when you're always losing and stuff can suddenly improve when you believe more, good habits start sneaking in. if there's more flow and understanding on D and O, linked together, players will be taking better shots, assisting each other better and just the types of play that occur will be different?

i think you made very valid points on the types of shots tho. would love to see more catch and shoot. I seem to remember tho when derozan was starting to knock down shots in the 2nd half of the season a lot of those were catch and shoot weren't they? but yeah, would like to see more anyway.

you're right.... he was getting better on the catch and release from 12-16 ft out.... I guess we'll see more deeper if he's refined his range.

The better question is he going to be on the plus or minus. My bet is on even if he is getting to 20 he gives up 20.

I'd like his foul rate to increase.... too many of our guys are just looking to get out of the way..... we need to be much tougher to score against 1-5.

over.
he averaged about 20 after the break, so give him another year of maturity and strength, and he'll definitely be over 20 next season.
while he wont be in the race for scoring champ, he'll be in an around the 21/22 section.

yeah, good shout on him needing to be prepared to foul more. Not sure i agree softness is the key problem with our D. Must admit i'm not hugely knowledegable on the tactics of basketball (generally guys are well informed on RF for sure,) so won't put my point too strongly, but to me it's more to do with the actual set up of the D. The plays we go for, the help D as people often say, the rotation. Again, not hugely knowledgable but my impression over the last couple of seasons is there's not enough focus on D in the coaching and just not the best playing personnel for it.

i would guess the toughness and intensity would be more how you want it if the coaching and tactics was better? players know what they're doing better, feel more confident in it and therefore execute better?
