i'd love to see a guy tweet "enough with the distractions, i'm on my way to the gym to shoot jumpers until they kick me out."

the thing that bugs me is that the slam dunk comp has absolutely nothing to do with the NBA right now... nothing whatsoever! yet this is the single most important thing on this kid's mind at the moment.
this kills me.

hey DD know one gives a shit about your slam dunking 8 months from now... how about you work on your game, seeing as how summer league starts in 2 weeks?

Here's the downside of twitter, and it's huge:

Consider how hard it is to be around anyone for any length of time on a regular basis. If you can find a person that you can live with every day then you have to be happy, but even that person is likely to make you crazy every now and then over something insignificant. Twitter gives you that feeling of having to put up with every last little aspect of someone's personality. Why do we want that? Why does anyone want to impose that on us? Wouldn't hearing a drippy faucet be more tolerable? There's just no place for this shit in my own brain. It's completely lost on me. All I can get out of it is being able to make the mental note that I wouldn't be able to share an apartment with this guy, as would be the case with most of the population out there.

If he shows an interest the league will probably seriously consider him. But he would have to prove himself in the early season to get the nod. I'm all for it if it fires his desires to get to the rim right off the bat!

Showing the constant bravado Vince use to do after every dunk....THAT..I hope he doesn't do! Once in a while it's o.k! But the game is not just about Vince, like he tends to think.

Why am I not surprised.

Only Raptor nation would take something as petty and insignificant as a twitter comment and use it to question a player's heart, determination and character.

I think all of you should remember that we're talking about a 19 year old here. He's 19, just finished 1 year of college and is now about to take on his dream job. God forbid he wants to have some fun...It's not like he's Tyrus Thomas saying he only wants the money...He probably just wants to bring some hype back to Toronto...

he doesnt give a shit about Toronto.
you honestly think the reason he wants to participate in the slam dunk competition is to bring hype back to toronto?

"hey DD why are you joining the dunk comp this year?"
"simple, i want to bring hype back to the city of Toronto"

hahahahahaha

they had an interview with him on a draft recap show on RapsTV on the weekend, and i was not impressed.
almost every other player interviewed mentioned something about improving their future team and fitting in and geling and willing to learn... all this kid did was talk about his game and his future... didnt mention anything about the team.
sure this may have been 1 of hundreds of interviews, but he doesnt strike me as a player who is in it for anything but himself.

yea cuz when jamario was so concerned about slam dunk redemption he had a great year.... demar, just actually dunk in games, the rest will come itself and you dont need to worry about it, if they want cha there, they will let u know, its not up to you to decide.

Well, you seem to have this kid figured out already don't you?

Personally, every interview I've seen with Demar has been positive. He's spoken about nothing other than learning, adjusting, and becoming a better player. Maybe you took something he said out of context I'm not sure, but to make say "he doesn't give a shit about Toronto" is pretty narrow minded.

I know you're better than that Insider.

ok, so i am probably getting ahead of myself and being a jerk about the kid... i hope that he turns out the way you guys are predicting. i truly do.

but i am not a DD supporter, ive gone on record saying this many times, i just havent felt this way (upset) about a draft since we passed on Granger for Graham... and the feeling i got when we selected DD was the same as i got in 2005.

Gizzle, i do appreciate your optimism, but for me, i'll be trashing on this kid for the rest of the summer... i hope to be eating crow in november.

I hope so too buddy...I think the whole board does.

But may I ask why?

1 - What specifically don't you like about him?

2 - Who would you have selected instead?

if i may interject, as i have been on the anti-dd bandwagon so far (and hope to eat that crow with insider) -

1 - apparently he has no game beyond athleticism - can't shoot and can't create off the dribble (a major factor that we needed)... and he probably can't help too much in the next couple of years.

2 - jrue holiday
