He said it in an interview last night. He didn't say that there was going to be a trade on July 1, but hinted very strongly that there could be.

- Will bring a desire to win every night, and a desire to bring intensity back to the city. Wants to get the fans on their feet.
- Triano wants him to come in and be a big impact and give it his all; will have a big opportunity so will do everything he can.
- Feels he can score and play defense.
- Was 100% confident that he would be picked by Toronto because he feels it is the best opportunity. Thinks Chris Bosh is a great player and an Olympian, and he will get to come in and get a chance to play some minutes right away.
- USC coach Tim Floyd taught him about preparation, which is what made him get better game after game.
- Heard that Kevin O'Neill is a bit crazy and laughs at his fortune to have escaped USC at the right time.
- Thinks it is great to have some experienced players on the team who will show him the ropes. Grateful to have a chance with players like Bosh and Marion.
- Wants to get better at every part of his game. Wants to be the best overall player and be a complete player.
- Learned about killer instinct from Kobe.
- Feels he is a gym rat; would have his bed at center court if he could.

I really like the fact that he's as highly touted as he is, and he's only had one year college experience. the kid is 19... he's just a young pup.

I am very excited about DD.

Colangelo:

- Thinks DeRozan could be like Andre Iguodala or Richard Jefferson, judging by their brief but successful college careers and thinks DeRozan's freshman statistics rank him very favourably despite flaws in his game (3 pt shooting). If given opportunity in first year, should get decent minutes, continuity, and flow, which will help him along very fast. Have a need and a committed coach, and a player who is willing to do whatever it takes to improve. Feels that bodes well for them this year.

- Thought Minnesota would have drafted Curry instead of another pure point guard, and Hill would have gone to the Warriors, and the Knicks would have taken Henderson, and the Raptors still would've gotten who they wanted. Thought 5 and 6 could have been problematic because a team could have jumped in to take DeMar through trade at those spots.

- Wants Marion back, he's a perfect fit for this team. May have a scenario on July 1 that is not favourable at which point they would like for sign and trade or renounce him for $9,000,000 under the cap to get a pretty good player, whether unrestricted or restricted because teams will have a hard time matching. Has a lot of different options that they can play out, has about 4 plans. July 1 is an important day and will have more trade discussions leading up to that date. Should be some interesting activity at the beginning of July.

- Thinks there are a lot of deals motivated by economics rather than competitive scenarios. Next year is the real problem. Teams angling to get under the cap by maximum allowable. Some teams that were projected at or near the tax level will end up over the tax because the revenues are expected to go down. There should be some deals for buyers (which the Raptors are right now), they just need to make the right decisions when things come up. They need to be careful to plan for next year as well. Has about $21,000,000 to spend this year, but any deal carrying forward after that could effect them. Based on their planning, they would be over the tax.

- Lot of change over in the last couple days. Feels Washington got better, not sure how VC will work out but it is a solid move to plan around Turkoglu, not sure Cleveland really won the trade until you see how the deal plays out as Phoenix thought it would work out and found themselves regretful of trading Marion. Had Phoenix kept Marion, they would have had a lot of money available this year instead of dumping Shaq and eating a lot of contracts. Some of the things that look like home run deals might not be, but it is definitely getting tougher in the conference. Will stay the course and build the way they need to build. Evans was a big piece even though it was a smaller deal, likes DeRozan. Systematically stepping forward and taking care of what they feel is appropriate to address.

- Intensity? What intensity? (Laughs) It's a high-stress job, 24/7, his phone rings all the time. Gets emails all day, agents upset, texting this, texting that, always putting out fires. A flurry of activity surrounds the deadlines, but there's not a lot of down time any more...there is no offseason anymore. Season to draft prep to draft to free agency to summer league. Might get a little time in late August and early September when just beginning to plan training camp, but even then still on the phone with agents trying to fill a couple spots. This has basically been his whole life even when growing up. Kind of numb to the intensity. It never seems to stop.
