Default Delfino's Future as a Raptor

Still up in the air, but according to an article from Yahoo (Spanish) he thinks that the Raptors will re-sign him. If not he's likely going to considering going to Europe to play if no other NBA team shows considerable interest in him.

Personally, I'd like to see him back but not if we have to break the bank to keep him.

I hate his inconsistency and I also hate the way he chucked up a lot of shots in the final minutes of game 5. He potentially cost us that game towards the end.

Maybe so, but we had way more problems then just Delfino chucking up shots during the entire season let alone Game 5. Anyone who thought we stood a chance in beating the Magic or going anywhere in the playoffs were seriously kidding themselves in my opinion. Keep in mind, Delfino was also the difference maker in a lot of games for us this season too.

If we get the star swingman we need he wont be needed. Moon/Parker/Jkaps will man the 2/3 positions with the star swingman and we wont need to re sign Delfino for 3 or 4 mil a year to be a 10th or 11th man.

That's a big "if", but assuming none of the players you've mentioned in the rotation are used to obtain that swingman, I'd agree.

I think he brings a lot of positives to this team:

- His versatility, can play the 1, 2 & 3 if needed.
- He's a hustle player with decent defense
- He's got a killer instinct that this team sorely lacks
- The guys got no fear- remember when he tried to block D Howard?
- He could still improve under the right coach

As long as his contract is affordable I think he's a keeper.

He could still improve under the right coach?

How did do under Larry Brown and Flip Saunders?

Oh wait, he had his best season under Mitchell.

Ok, before we start posting "please leave"; we need to add this to our thought process: "please explain".

Although he plays tough he takes way too many horrible shots, hes our worst help defender on the wing, and hes not worth 4 million if hes gonna be our 10th or 11th man if we do indeed get that star guy next year because IMO Jamario will be a lot better than him, he'll never be as good as Parker, and Kaponos services are greatly needed in a lot of games and we're stuck with him anyway.

If he goes, that would make the number of returning players who know how to rebound at exactly 0.

Delfino should stay....he plays well when needed and steps up when needed...he aint the most consistent Raptors if there is sucha thing but what you need to look at is when he was on scoring 18-20 points he was the game changed and had great presence on the court...and the Raptors need that...kapono performed in the playoffs yes...but if needed i would rather trade kapono...we are already a shooting team and players like kapono are all over the NBA

Thank you voice of reason.

Add to that, he leaves, one less player that will step into the lane and draw a charge.

WOW ... I didn't realize that so many people here felt that Delfino hurt us more than he helped us. I thought it was clear as day that he was a very valuable contributor coming off the bench for the Raptors this past season. Guess I was wrong.

he was a contributor doc...

its just that toronto fans no matter what thesport just like to boycott everysingle player on the respective team...they dont remember what he did just right...just what the player did wrong...we didnt sign delfino to be a prime scorer but to be a role player and i think he acheived that goal even though his incosistency was a huge factor
