![]() Keep hearing we may sign Delfino to a one year contract and not three years. If we do that, do we not lose his bird rights next season. If that's the case, will we be able to sign him again next year if we don't have cap space? Wouldn't it be better to sign him longer and fix our wing depth for next year as well?

![]() I am pretty sure that Carlos is an unrestricted free agent right now because we renounced his qualifying offer to sign Turk, but kept his bird rights. He is free to sign for any team but with bird rights we could trump any contract offered to him.
Nice find Trane, thanks. if i'm reading that right, we should still retain his bird rights because it doesn't matter if his contract is broken up after we gained his bird rights. I hope thats the case because we do have about $6-7mill in expiring contracts on the books for next year exluding what we do with Carlos. |

![]() He won't be arestricted free agent next year if it was a one year deal. WE will still have his rights but now we just won't be able to match an offer sheet given by another team

I think Colangelo is also concerned about being over the cap next year if Bosh outright walks. That's why he wants to sign eveyone to one year contracts now. This way we can go under the cap next year with all the expirings and take advantage of the $17 mill space Bosh would open up. Than we could sign sign a choice free agent to take Bosh's place, to any amount. If Bosh just walks and we're over the cap $10 mill, we will only be able to use $7mill of his money to sign someone elses free agent when we subtract his $17mill. Hypothetically if we're $17mill over cap and he leaves, it would open up zero cap space to sign someone. We could only use exception money to sign someone. ![]() i'm pretty sure we did not have to renounce our RFAs in the hedo signing because of that 4 team trade we pulled off which made hedo a sign and trade instead of a straight up sign, i'm almost certain that allowed us to maintain the bird rights to delfino
but after his next contract he will only be a FA we need delfino because right now the SF/SG position is really only hedo, demar, and wright, with jack being able to play SG but should probably be PG and george as a possibility but really is useless and wright really isn't that much better, so delfino is really needed there and in the PG position it is jose, jack, and roko and if this team is to be a good team we really don't want roko playing, especially if either jose or jack go down on an injury, i really don't want to see roko playing significant minutes like last year when we found out solomon is useless delfino can play PG, SG, and SF positions at a decent level, kind of like a hedo but not as consistent and without the 6'10" frame |

Players signed for 2010-2011 Hedo Turkoglu $10,600,000 (signed through 2013-2014) (approx salary) Jose Calderon $8,219,009 (signed through 2012-2013) Andrea Bargnani $6,527,490 (signed through 2014-2015) Jarrett Jack $5,000,000(signed through 2012-2013) Reggie Evans $4,960,000 (signed through 2010-2011) Marcus Banks $4,553,793 (signed through 2010-2011) Derozan 9th pick $2,282,640(team options for 2011-2012 & 2012-2013) Roko Ukic $1,350,000 (player option for 2010-2011) Total: $43,492,932 If cap drops to around $55 mil that leaves BC with just over $11mil to sign a replacement for Bosh. The bench could suck again though as their would be no MLE or BAE, just minimum to fill in for anyone else that decided to leave. |
