Default Delfino

Bored with the current topics, so i thought of someone who i can't make my mind on. Carlos Delfino. Don't get me wrong, i think he has a lot to offer the team and doesn do certain good things for us.

But there are times when he makes me scream at the TV. He tends to be a bit of an offense killer somtimes and has a very unreliable shot. Like the guy he replaced, Carlos just seems equally inconsistant.

I remember reading a quote by him in the offseason, saying that he would leave the NBA if things dont "work out" in Toronto.

I think he's making $1.8 million or something, and he's up at the end of the year.

so... do we bring him back?

How much?

Is he better than Mopete? (i don't think so..)

He has more potential right now than Mo Pete has on the Hornets at this current time. The problem with Delfino is for some reason he thinks hes a primary ballhandler for this team where he should just stick to staying in the corners and taking open shots. Too many times he catches it way out and either jacks it up out of rhythm from 30 feet for no reason or calls over a pick and turns it over. His D and rebounding have been a nice addition but his offence is too inconsistant and just bad a lot of the time. I wish Kapono would get his shots.

I think that was Primo that said that if it didn't work out for him in Toronto that he was done with the NBA, not Carlos.

Anyhow, that being said I would bring him back for a reasonable price. Not Kapono type money, but if we were able to sign him to 3 to 4 million per season I'd have him back in heartbeat.

Is he better than Mo? He can definitely create more than Mo could ever on offense and handle the ball better too, but Mo I still think is the better defender of the two. So, it depends on what you want more. Offense or defense? They're pretty much the same level of player in my opinion.

I actuallly love him, he plays with balls, he tries to get it to the basket and he does a little bit of everything. He is a Garbajosa with better athletisim and less IQ. Excellent offensive rebounder for his size, I dont like his inconsistency and specially his FT shooting but I think he has room to improve. Lets not forget its his first year with real minutes. And he is Caldes age.
I want him in To nex year.

Sometimes he frustrates me with his crappy FT shooting and his poor shot selection, but I like Delfino.

Primoz said it too, but i clearly remember reading Delfino saying that in the preseason.

I think i'd bring him back for $4 million tops. not any more. the $3.somthing range sounds about right.

He does bring hustle and rebounding. I'll give him that. But if he could only shoot a little better.

I just remember on more than a few occasions saying to myself that i realized why Detroit gave him up for 2 second rounders.

I tend to agree with Acie he also frustrates me with his inconsistance at the FT line and his poor shot selection. I like his d and his ability to to read and react to take charges. I think at times he trys to do too much but maybe it has something to do with minutes played or the lack of a set rotation parttern from Mitch.

He played that way in Detroit too...

I can't remember who he fouled on Atlanta the other night, but he wacked him pretty good, but still hit ball, so it didn't look dirty.

I like that.

i love delfino actually.
i love his grit and what he brings to our bench.
he's no starter, and shouldnt see more than 20 minutes a night, so with the 15-20 he gets, he definitely is worth the money.
when he's hot, he's unstoppable. plus he can play solid D.
i dont see teams offering him insane amounts of money, so i bet he stays here for a small amount.

I don't like Delfino because the muthaf*cka in front of me wears a Delfino jersey to every game and blocks my view with his big ass head.

Everytime a 3 is jacked, he stands.
Everytime a dunk is comng, he stands.

The mofo sits alone and loves to dance by himself. I hate Delfino just from being guilty of association. LOL.

All the more reason why BC should let him walk this summer.

I'll tell ya what,

I like to think I have an educated opinion on this stuff, and I can tell ya this much, Carlos brings three times as much to this team positively as his shot selection takes away from it. Nobody complains when he gets hot and single handedly brings us back inot games, which he's done a number of times off the bench. And he tenacity...comparing him to Mo on defence is not fair, he kills Mo.

not sure why we're talking about a guy who will be gone after the next 11 games? No way he'll return, there's bound to be some idiot out there to give him full MLE ... I mean, even Kapono got MLE

I love Delfino's grit, effort, hustle and game. The only things I don't like is his inconsistency and tendency to take stupid shots, like too many 3's or settling for perimeter shots all too often.

I suggested starting him earlier in the season at 2 (and pushing Parker to 3), and I've said before that he's our SG of the future when Parker gets too old, but I don't know if Carlos will ever get consistent enough.

Where was it tonight? He looked bored and disinterested. Especially on defense. It was frustrating watching him play this evening.

But when on his game, he's such a difference maker. But as you alluded to bballwatcher, its the inconsistency that hurts himself and us the most.

Like I talked about with Sauce on the other board, hes always late on rotations and its so frustrating to watch. He jogs out there too on the kickouts, at least Caldy and TJ are sprinting and trying to get to the ball. Delfinos fucking lazy on rotations for some reason

Yeah Delfino is great. His offense is a bit on the inconsistent side, but his defensive effort is appreciated. Although, not as athletic, he seems to drive to the basket maybe more than Moon (& Parker) - taking the limited amount of minutes he is on the floor, into consideration - so he gets to the foul line more often. Eventually he'll learn to make his dunks count, too :-)

I'd keep him. He's due for a breakout game and season. Almost everybody does when they pass through Toronto ;-)

Delfino, like Mo Pete is just decent role player... nothing more.

Most likely, money Raps offer him will not be enough and he'll be off to Europe where he will get more money, bigger role and could be star player.
