Default David Lee on the Block

According to Hoopshype, David Lee is on the trading block. Should the Raptors get involved with this trade?

"Although discussions on this topic were essentially tabled by both sides until after the playoffs, sources said Wednesday that the Warriors and Bartelstein have resolved to work together to “come up with a good solution” to find a new home for Lee this offseason."

David Lee will make around 15 million next season which can be a problem with the Raptors' cap space. Given that the salary cap for the Raptors this off season will be approximately 18 million, is this a tough gamble for the team? Unless Masai Ujiri does some magic and frees up the cap space by a few million to get that flexibility to sign other players as well. Interesting hypothetical scenario nonetheless.

his contract makes its big no to me
he cant defend and he would make this team marginally better.

His contract expires next summer, no?

Lee, Barnes for Ross, filler, picks

He was rumored to almost be traded to Utah earlier this season.

I'd have no problem picking him up as a one year rental if we get something good in the deal with him. Barnes would be amazing. Then we end up with huge cap room the following summer when Lee expires.

Just checked, Lee's contract ends next summer. He is slated to make $15,493,680 next season.

They're trading him more to pay Draymond Green than Barnes. And Lee would be the wrong direction for the Raptors, plus it would take a way lot more than Jeff's proposal to land Barnes.

I like Lee

Just not beside JV

Neither can defend the paint

Lee and Drummond however...

David Lee is possibly the worst defender in the NBA at his position.

This is not a move we need to make.

Unless we move JV for a young mobile defensive center
