I think they become opportunist in select situations

When LeBron & Rose were regarded as the top picks, they hooked their home state teams up with 1st picks (which is partially coincidental because those teams still had to suck)

Back in the day, the frozengate scandal with the Knicks lol

The Decision

The Bobcats are a suffering franchise who were just embarrassing to watch all season, its bad for business to have a team so crappy like that...they'll get AD and its the right thing

Not all the time but in some situations, its rigged....I have no solid, factual proof but that's my belief

I think any sport that has a lottery has some doubt about the validity of it. None moreso than the NBA.

The only proof I can give is that since 1990 (I believe), or three times the team with the highest percentage chance of winning the #1 has won it,

That tells me that in the league's eyes, not always does the team who has the worst record deserves the top pick. They value other teams situation as well based on circumstances

Pure assumption on my part,I'll admit but this is what I strongly believe!

thats because although the worst team has the best chance individually to win the lottery over other teams, the chances of them not winning is higher than them winning. so its not surprising and doesn't mean its rigged.

The worst team (like Charlotte this year) has a 25% chance of getting the first pick. Not unusual for them to not win it.

Think about it, if the lottery were rigged don't you think the owners would do something about it? They'd be losing out on a ton of money if they were robbed of a no.1 pick.

No, it means that the sample size is small.

exactly.

out of 21 years, there "should" have been 5 worst record teams getting 1st pick and there's been 3. i know the picking method has differed slightly at different times but still, hardly a shocking statistical anomaly.

People keep talking about the lottery rigging and at the end of the day:

We don't have conclusive proof either way.

I for one believe there is a lot that goes on behind that scenes and that it would be silly to believe they WOULDN'T rig the lottery. There is no hard evidence to support my claims, only circumstantial.

There is no "evidence" that the lottery isn't rigged but many could say that there is stronger evidence (audit reports etc.) that would say it is clearly not.

I would only believe the lottery isn't rigged if:
A) There was no gain or incentive for the league to do so

or

B) I saw it with my own damn eyes

There is no doubt in my mind that come June 28, Anthony Davis will be a Brooklyn Net. Guarantee it.

Yea...for me in a nutshell,I think its manipulated in select years (I believe this will be one of those years, with Charlotte winning but they have the greatest chance to get the most ping pong balls anyway)

At the same time if the NBA were to do it by record like the NFL that would increase tanking too so at the end of the day,I don't mind if the NBA rigs it for the benefit of business. Truthfully a higher pick doesn't always guarantee top talent,if you scout well or make smart trades you'll be fine regardless of draft positioning.

The very fact that they don't show the balls being set up and pulled to the public makes it believable as an American election.

It's not unusual for them to not win it because they also have a 75% chance that they won't. Basic math states that 75%>>25%
