Dave Feschuk calls O'Neal trade a step backwards!

First of all Dave Feschuk is a tool, but he thinks that this O'Neil trade was a step backwards due to JO's injury history. This seems to be a trade that you either love or hate. All morning on the Fan 590 it was about 60/40 in favor of the trade. All in all i'm fine with this trade especially if Colangelo can get another wing scorer IMO.

Anyway here's dumb dumb's article!!

i could of told you this... Feschuk feasts on these types of gambles.
he's all about sure thing (safe) transactions.
he has no balls, and its easy to read from his articles.

He's actually a friend of mine, and to be honest, no offence, he's smarter than 98% of the guys on here. He's also 6'3" and 200, and can ball like mad.

That said, I emailed him to bitch about this one.

I'll tell ya his reply if I get one.

I agreed about how BC's original plans have been changed, and that all of the promise represented by the #1 pick seems a bit lost. But all the Jeannie Becker fashion nonsense is just stupid. Why all the contempt? This is what irks me about this city and basketball fans - so quick to express contempt or to feel that their team or stars are directing contempt towards them.

Calling JO names is just inexcusable.

I liked most of his stuff last year, and would have said that up until the point where he stirred up shit upon TJ's return, he was the best writer in the city last season. It's really going to take me some time to feel that way again. This shit is just red meat for people who love to feel pissed off at the drop of a hat. It's pointless and without value, but unfortunately, potentially harmful to some extent.

i havent ever heard of this guy and now this unknown person is bitching on JO. If he is bitching on him and thinks this is a bad trade then he should tell us one that is and one that will make the raps as good as this deal probably will.

Did Colangelo hit on Feschuk's wife or something?

Two days in a row now, he's written an article slagging him.

Quote:
Golden boy GM losing lustre

O'Neal pumped about deal
It didn't matter what commissioner David Stern actually said last night – for the record, it was Georgetown's Roy Hibbert instead of O'Neal – everyone knew he should have announced O'Neal at that spot and the newly minted Raptor sounds pretty pumped about the trade that will land in him Toronto.Jun 27, 2008 04:30 AM
Dave Feschuk

Sam Mitchell, the Raptors head coach, was theorizing on the importance of work-life timing yesterday.

"It depends where you get guys in their career," said Mitchell. "And Jermaine, with all the stuff he's been through in Indiana, maybe he's figured it out."

Mitchell's point is well taken. No matter how abysmal and injury-riddled Jermaine O'Neal's recent history has been, perhaps there's a chance he will, nearing age 30, shed that baggage of a mid-career swoon and enjoy a Hogtown renaissance. Mitchell has seen it happen before, selfish players morph into selfless ones as they age.

So let's just say for a moment, even if the downside's established, that the deal is a home run; that T.J. Ford, Rasho Nesterovic, Maceo Baston and Toronto's 17th pick in last night's draft – Georgetown's Roy Hibbert, as it turns out – are headed to Indiana for O'Neal and last night's 41st overall pick, Nathan (The Australian Shaq) Jawai, and it's a crazy success.

Let's just say, as Mitchell was hypothesizing yesterday, that O'Neal and Chris Bosh average a combined 40 points and 20 rebounds next season. It's an intriguing best-case scenario.

For Bryan Colangelo, the Raptors general manager, it'll mark a breakout from a considerable slump. He's still riding out a Midas-touch honeymoon in most corners of the storytelling community, and maybe it's because he was venerated so intensely when he arrived to rescue the franchise from laughingstock status a couple of years back. Certainly your correspondent was a willing baritone in that butt-kissing chorus.

But Colangelo hasn't exactly been producing like an elite executive in the days since the Raptors ran off a feel-good 47-win season in 2006-07.

Heralded as a messianic visionary of up-tempo Euro-ball, he is suddenly a garden-variety reactionary. That doesn't make him incompetent. That only makes him about the same as the vast majority of jockdom executives, plugging holes, fixing mistakes, slogging it out. So applaud him for staying in the fight, but understand he made millions designing the plan he just ditched. And know, too, that he's a risk-taker, whose recent bets haven't panned out.

That's why it's been rich to hear Colangelo spend no end of wind explaining how Jorge Garbajosa was last season's missing link – as though an act of God kept the .500 Raptors from second-round playoff glory. It was Colangelo who opted to allow Garbajosa to play in the European championships, a move that proved disastrous to both the since-departed player's career and the Raptors' fortunes. (And let's not forget the GM was, before the season, espousing the theory that Garbajosa, with Andrea Bargnani poised to be a star, was shaping up to be something of a bit player in 2007-08.) Only in the revisionist tale-telling is Garbo the linchpin.

The list continues. Bargnani, Colangelo's signature No.1 overall pick from 2006, has regressed. His big off-season signing of last summer, Jason Kapono, didn't fit into Mitchell's rotation for much of the season.

And Mitchell, the coach Colangelo signed last summer, holds a diametrically different view of how the game should be played and who should play in it.

Maybe the O'Neal trade bridges that gap a little. Maybe now the coach's incessant complaints about a roster lacking in defence and rebounding will be silenced. Mitchell suggested as much last night.

Indeed, when O'Neal's deal comes off the books in 2010 the club will have plenty of money to pursue a bright free-agent class. But let's not forget that Colangelo had, until this deal, been promising that kind of big-spending off-season in 2009.

Waiting for free-agent classes – delaying the gratification another calendar year – is a dangerous game with zero guarantees. Like Bargnani and Kapono, it's another of Colangelo's gambles that promises a payoff as yet unseen.

Wow... someone sounds like a whiny bitch. Feschuk is a tool.

Let's wait to see what the roster looks like in October before we announce that the sky is falling.

Feschuk is making up for loss ground. Last season his articles were just ..... "meh" ...... in my opinion. He's slowly coming back to his old self with a whole lot of complaining and whining.

Shut it ... your opinion doesn't count considering your drinking buddies with Feschuk.
