Default danny granger

should we try to get granger for a package of Bargnani and fields? He played thhe 4 in the past and gay/granger would be a very potent mix and they could interchange easily at sf/pf?

Indiana would get a backup 3 and a backup 4 and I'm not sure the market for granger is very hot right now.

For us, it would make us a formidable offensive team at the cost of rebounding weaknesses, but then again, not sure how tradeable Bargnani is also ...

Id rather go after a true 4 tbh. This team lacks size at the 4/5 as it is, if we're going to add a tweener to play the 4 i'd rather go after Derrick Williams who comes at 1/3 of the price.

I think we're in danger of overvaluing smallball.

A 13Mil tweener with injury issues makes absolutely no sense for us.

except one is an all star and the other is an unproven (if anything, some will say he's already proven he's not that good). And williams is also a tweener, not a true 4.

As for price, as proposed by some, the trade is not possible, we'd have to take on some kind of bad contract to match salaries since Bargnani makes twice as much as ridnour and williams. And we'd have to keep fields which would suck ...

I'll do it if Indy will. Worst case, he's an expiring contract next year.

and with this trade we'd have cap space after next season, perhaps as much as 10 million if we amnesty kleiza

Kleiza is an expiring next year just like Granger, so the 2014 summer cap space is unaffected by a Kleiza amnesty.

For Bargs and Fields? Of course. Granger expires in 2014, saving us a year on both Bargs and Fields. I like it so much, me thinks there's no chance in hell Indiana even considers it.

I have a hunch that Indiana would rather welcome back Granger's shooting touch and solid perimeter defence, then integrate a guy that can't shoot and another that can't play defence.

But I do like the concept of the small lineup, depending on matchups.

I'd do it, just saying. And I hate fields so it'd be easy! And Granny Danger can be traded again if need be. Or DD.

But I kind of think Deandre is gettable too!

We always seem to chase the draft picks that got away. Iggy, Granger, Gay. Funny. Not HAHA funny.

It helps to have some guy named Lebron.

Granger is bad fit for the current club. Like Jeff stated, this team needs to acquire either a true starting 4.

you ever heard of not enough shots? i'd at least wait until he's back playing at 100% before i entertained any idea of obtaining him, because i dont know if 100% is in his cards any longer.

we already have a true 4 in Amir. What we truly need is a true 5 until JV is ready if ever AND to escape the fields/bargnani contracts.

I doubt Indiana makes that trade, maybe with ross included instead of fields, but it's nice to dream. Gay for davis and Calderon seemed very unlikely 3 months ago too

sure, because you'd get the best player and clear both short term and long term salary.

Indiana will think that's a prank call.

On not enough shots - completely agree with Funk. With Lowry at the point and Gay/DD in the wings, we need front court players who'd be happy with fewer touches. Granger has always been a volume shooter.

Personally, I think DD would do better with more limited touches - his off ball game is where he can improve greatly. And you can cycle Gay and Granger a bit so there is always one on the floor, letting Ross take the other 2-3-4 spot as a low usage spot up guy.

I think there would be plenty of shots to go around, with reasonable rotations.

I've never been a big fan of Granger and have hard time seeing him and Gay being happy on the same team. Just my opinion.
