raptor123, just off the wagon already. Calderon has no defense, finally we have a PG that can block, rebound, you name it, he does it.

I love the depth i'm seeing at the PG position and they all bring different things to the table.
Calderon is a smart guy. He will shoot/pass the ball based on the situation. If there is a wide open teammate or a guy running for alley-oop, he will definitely pass the ball for assists. If not, he will throw 3pt shot

Raptors ESPN Magazine: Conference rankings predictions

1. Heat
2. Hawks
3. Knicks <--------------Atlantic divsion champs
4. Celtics
5. 76ers
6. Bulls
7. Nets
8. Indy

^ to some of these

Quote:
9. Raptors
Conventional wisdom: The Raptors are deeper and stronger defensively than they've been in years, putting them in the mix for a bottom-half playoff spot.

Actual wisdom: Deeper isn't enough. Lock up Bargnani and new point guard Kyle Lowry and who puts the ball in the hole? Toronto was 29th in offensive rating last year. There is, of course, vague hope in youth: Landry Fields, Jonas Valanciunas and Terrence Ross will keep the Raptors in most games. But if they keep the team in the playoff hunt, it says more about the other conference also-rans than it does about this one. -- Tim Legler

I can't open the link but Hawks second!?!? Is this some kind of joke, am I being punked? Why the hell is Indy 8th really? Lol they're arguably the the second best team in the conference.

I think there is merit to his view. Atlanta is going to be good. Our depth isn't enough. It isn't even that much greater than other teams. We're going to struggle against good teams.

That's where i think you're wrong. We always tend to do well against better teams, especially at home. We get up for those teams and that's has been with less talent than this season.

No one finds it strange that espn predicts second spot for Hawks. I mean Come on.

And the thing about Knicks, I can see them taking 2-5 spot in the conference, They got Melo, Amare spent summer with Hakeem, Tyson Chandler, good scoring SG's, experienced pg's and a deep bench. I'd say they finish 2nd.

9th - I'm kind of surprised a US publication didn't rank the raps much lower given their bias and lack of knowledge of the raps. I think 8-10th is where the raps will finish, maybe 11th but probably not. DD not being mentioned was shocking.

Hawks 2nd is quite high. It is not impossible but with JSmoove not signing an extension and in the last year of his contract it wouldn't be surprising if he was dealt. That's going to follow that team throughout the season.

Indy - 8th that truly boggles the mind

Boston are the clear favourites to win the atlantic division.

We can't consistently beat them... we can hang with them, but all too often we're going to lose. Just a feeling though, I could always be wrong for once.

Heck, I think we struggle to beat bad teams too. Detroit will give us fits. Cleveland. Milwaukee. Washington. When you start naming the teams, none of them will be gimmies.

DD not being mentioned gets so much angst? The guy hasn't proven shit. He hasn't looked like a superstar in the preseason either despite looking improved. This isn't a slap in the face, it's a realistic perspective, as outlined in the article.

fair enough, it probably has to do with him being able to do few things on the court.

I'm convinced raptor123 isn't trolling, but just not very knowledgable and biased.

Well I mean, the article mentions Ross and Val as needing to provide scoring if Bargn and Lowrie are locked up, I think Derozan would come before those 2 in terms of scoring.

Maybe he just really likes Calderon, and get's upset when he isn't given any credit?

I don't see anything wong with that.

the author is not talking about superstars. derozan averaged 17ppg over his last 2 seasons. if the question is who is going to put the ball in the hole if Bargs and lowry are locked up, the clear answer is derozan.
