Raptors duo need to make adjustments

Quote:
A combination of excellent play and tight coverage on Andrea Bargnani appears to have moved sophomore DeMar DeRozan up in the Raptors’ pecking order.
“I think (DeRozan’s) developed extremely well, he’s really started to take off,” head coach Jay Triano responded to a query from a Minnesota reporter.
The Wolves had two high picks in the 2009 draft and showed considerable interest in DeRozan, before opting for point guards Ricky Rubio and Jonny Flynn.
“He’s become our go-to-guy, the guy we put a lot of faith, a lot of trust in with the basketball,” Triano continued.
“It started last year in the summer league and it’s been accelerated because of the injuries we’ve had.
“He’s getting to the hole and getting more consistent with his jump shot.”
DeRozan has averaged 22.2 points per game over his past five games and 19.9 in January.
Triano said part of DeRozan’s improvement has been all the extra work he puts in honing the basics.
“Every single day after practice, we have (him) dribble full court with the basketball and try to finish ... you forget sometimes DeMar only had one year at Southern Cal,” he said.
“We need to make sure that the fundamentals are with (the young Raptors), because a lot of the guys don’t have that base.”

Losing streak turns Raptors’ dreadful season to dust

Quote:
The 11 straight losses — the fifth-longest streak in the inglorious history of the franchise — have created all kinds of questions about what went on before and what will become as the team heads to a third straight spring without a playoff appearance.
While it was a stretch to assume a young team without a proven leader would be a legitimate playoff contender this season, what’s transpired lately makes the final 34 games of the season a test of their resolve, a referendum on the leadership of coach Jay Triano and general manager Bryan Colangelo and chance to further evaluate the fifth-youngest team in the NBA, a team that has been good at times good but not nearly good enough often enough.
“I’ve always said I don’t like to look back at how many it’s been, you have to keep looking forward,” Triano said even before the Raptors were hammered 103-87 by the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
“That’s the biggest thing for me: I want to see these guys get rewarded for the effort they’ve put in so far.”
But what of that effort? For the first half of the season, the Raptors were developing a reputation as a team greater than the sum of its parts, never conceding, and playing “hard” despite its relative inexperience.
That remains the case — there is no indication the desire to win has lessened but has it all caught up to them? Have the injuries that have robbed them of key starters and significant backups finally caught up to them? Have all the nights when they’ve played hard and not won finally beaten them down mentally? Or is it a regression to the mean for a team that’s not blessed with an abundance of talent.

Indiana vs. Toronto

Quote:
Toronto averaged 101.0 points in its first 37 games, but it's put up just 93.7 points per game during the losing streak. Leading scorer Andrea Bargnani has played a big role in his team's recent struggles, shooting 35.2 percent over his last eight games.
"Andrea is a little bit out of sync," Triano told the NBA's official website. "Sometimes when he has a shot he doesn't take it. He's thinking about it too much."
The Raptors certainly need Bargnani to play well to win. They're 12-14 when he scores 18 or more points and 0-16 when he's held to 17 or fewer.
Toronto's defense was out of sync when they visited Conseco Fieldhouse on Dec. 6. The Pacers shot 55.3 percent and put seven players in double figures in a 124-100 win, led by Brandon Rush's 26 points off the bench.
Rush is currently out with a sprained right ankle.
Indiana has averaged 120.0 points in five straight home victories over the Raptors, averaging an impressive 48.4 points in the paint.

Sunshine Girl - 31.01.11

SUNshine Girl Katelyn, 18, is finally living her dreams without doubt or fear, which means this 5-foot-3 Burger King bu ff will be heading to L.A. to become an actress. She's already met Tracey Morgan while auditioning for Scare Tactics. Missed that one. Anyway, if that's not in the cards, our Gemini yoga fan says she's given a great deal of analysis to becoming a child psychologist.

She could just have an insane metabolism like I did, it took me a ton of effort to gain weight, then even more just to keep it. From like junior high till i was like 21 I never gained much weight, at least not without effort, still bout the same I guess, but starting to fade lol.
