DeRozan going A-Wall

Quote:
It’s been a baptism by fire for DeMar DeRozan in his rookie year in the NBA and the Raptors rookie appears to be feeling the heat just a little bit more, right now.
In the past three games — a pair of losses and a win over the Washington Wizards — DeRozan has all but disappeared. A total of eight points in the three games is what he normally averages in a single game.
As usual, the statistics alone do not tell the story. DeRozan is at his best when he’s attacking the basket and forcing opponents to contend with his freakish athleticism. That, too, has been missing of late.
The Raptors have carefully monitored his minutes and brought him along slowly, but is this at last that rookie wall that has stopped so many first-year players in their tracks?
DeRozan himself says no.
“Nah, everybody has their couple of games,” DeRozan said. “Friday night, I couldn’t make any shots, but it comes with it. I ain’t worried about it. I ain’t gong to let it get me down. Just come out (Sunday at Oklahoma City), play and try to get it going.”

Raps Notes: Bosh left behind

Quote:
It’s going to be at least two more games before the Raptors get the franchise back on the floor.
Chris Bosh and his sprained left ankle weren’t on the team charter when it took off for Oklahoma City on Saturday and he won’t be with the club in Houston on Monday either.
“We’re going to leave him home, let him get some treatment over the next couple of days, get some work here (in the practice gym) and he’ll be ready for Friday when we get back,” head coach Jay Triano said Saturday at practice.
LINEUP TWEAKS
Triano toyed with the idea of having someone other than Rasho Nesterovic step in for Bosh in his starting five during Friday’s game against Cleveland, but opted against it. He’s not sure which way he’ll go over the next two days.
“I haven’t thought about it, yet,” Triano said. “I will once I watch more tape, but I can’t complain with the way Rasho has played. He has been unbelievably steady for us and done a great job. It wouldn’t have anything to do with the way he’s playing if we do change. That’s for sure.”
Reggie Evans, though, does present one enticing option now that he’s back in game shape. He certainly caught Triano’s eye on Friday night.
“He came in and he played hard and, when he did that, it became contagious,” Triano said. “The rest of the guys had to follow

Lightning-fast Thunder will be a difficult challenge for Raptors

Quote:
some casual fans, they are something of an unknown entity, save for one emerging star, and certainly not the behemoths from Cleveland that the Raptors battled on Friday night.
But rest assured, the Oklahoma City Thunder, with Kevin Durant scoring at a shockingly effective pace, have the respect and attention of a Toronto team reeling from two straight losses and still missing its top player.
Chris Bosh, who'll now miss six games with what was announced as a mild left ankle sprain suffered a week-and-a-half ago, remained in Toronto when the team left Saturday and will miss games here Sunday night and in Houston on Monday.
His absence will be felt greatly against the Thunder, something of an under-the-radar squad right in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race.

Thunder readying for Raptors

Quote:

"They're a talented team," Brooks said. "They do a great job of putting points on the board so we'll have to play well on defense. They've got a lot of guys who can score, I'm not sure whether (Chris) Bosh will play or not but even without him these last few games they've played well."
Bosh missed another game last night against Cleveland and it's not known whether he'll be ready but Durant knows that some teams tend to pull together more when one of their stars can't play.
"We've played several teams that didn't have their best guy and they've still played well," he said. "They've got other guys who've really stepped up. It will be a tough test for us but we just look forward to the challenge."

Free-agent talk gets the ki-Bosh

Quote:

The Thunder is projected to have roughly $10 million to $12 million in salary cap room this summer. Since Bosh is currently making more than $15.7 million with the Raptors, league rules permit Bosh to receive an extension that offers a 10.5 percent raise with the Raptors, or an eight percent bump from another team, both placing him further outside the Thunder’s price range.
Coon points out there is only one other option if the Thunder was sold on acquiring Bosh’s services — a sign-and-trade with Toronto. Under league rules, teams can sign their own free agents with the sole intent of trading them. But it’s a complicated maneuver in which both teams and the player must agree to a deal. It would require the Thunder to include roughly $6.6 million in the deal and likely mandate a few more assets for the rights to Bosh.
"But it could work out to everyone’s advantage,” said Coon, a computer scientist and information technology director with the University of California-Irvine by day. "Bosh gets a bigger contract by signing with Toronto, OKC gets a player they can’t otherwise afford, and Toronto gets something back for a player they’d otherwise lose for nothing.”
That kind of deal, however, would blow up Oklahoma City’s cap status with a likely maximum extension for Kevin Durant kicking in before the start of the 2011-12 season and a high-dollar deal for Russell Westbrook being tendered a year later. It remains to be seen whether Thunder management is willing to test its small market revenue and splurge on a luxury-tax level payroll.
Another potential concern whether Bosh would even fit with the team’s current nucleus is available points. With Durant, Westbrook, Jeff Green and James Harden, the Thunder already has four young players capable of posting 20 points on any given night.
"Bosh is a great player, an All-Star,” said Green, the incumbent power forward who would be affected most by the addition of Bosh. "You never know how he would fit in because he’s a guy who demands the ball. He’s a great player, but who knows what will happen. That’s not up to me to say that he’ll fit great here because I’m still here.”
Durant said he thinks Bosh would fit from a chemistry standpoint because the Thunder is filled with "likeable guys.” But despite the current difference in their statistical production, Durant said he views Green and Bosh as similar players.
"Jeff is on his way to that,” Durant said of Green. "It’s only his third season, and he’s playing phenomenal for us. He’s a guy just like that with versatility to go inside and out. He causes different matchup problems and makes it easier for everybody on the floor. So that’s who we look at to be that kind of guy.

You don't fool me, you were looking at the parts above the fishnets.

I don't see anything wrong with that expression.
