Triano glad Bosh vented his frustration

Quote:
Bosh isn’t the outspoken type, but Triano wasn’t surprised by his words.
“I don’t think you can say it’s not like him,” Triano said. “There have been times throughout his career where he has been frustrated.”
But Triano said words alone aren’t going to get it done.
“He has to lead by example. Those guys will follow him with what he says if he backs it up with the way he plays” Triano said. “I think the other guys in the room lose respect when you say it but don’t act upon it. We need to act upon it.”

Raps tough talk not enough

Quote:
Well, the passion appears to be back. But that small matter of winning a game still seems to be giving the Raptors trouble.
A four-game road swing through the West started and ended on a better note than the games in between, but it was still a four-loss trip.
A night after Chris Bosh basically asked his teammates to start competing, his message appeared to get through but it wasn’t enough to knock off a pretty good Portland Trail Blazers team.
The Blazers hung on for a 109-98 win Sunday night at the Rose Garden despite the Raptors best effort since the trip began with a buzzer-beater loss to Kobe Bryant and the Lakers.
With the loss, the Raptors fell a game below .500 for the first time since Jan. 20. They continue to defend like their allergic to the activity, but it had to feel nice for a change to at least be in a game.
The Raps remain a game up on Chicago for eighth place in the East but wins by both Charlotte and Miami on Sunday night mean they are now two full games out of sixth and seventh spots.
Bosh, after airing out his teammates for a lack of passion following the Golden State game, wisely stepped up his own game hitting 28 points and seven rebounds.
The Raptors downfall, though, was in two of the same three areas that they were so woefully exposed the night before in Oakland.
They showed a distinct inability to shut down Portland’s perimeter shooters, allowing them to knock down 12-of-20 from distance, eight of those 12 coming from Nicolas Batum and Rudy Fernandez

Triano makes changes as Raptors in free-fall

Quote:
Jose Calderon replaced Jarrett Jack to start the third quarter and Triano hooked Andrea Bargnani more quickly than usual after Bargnani avoided boxing out any Blazer at all costs, and that could just be the start of something bigger.
"We've got to have a shorter leash with some of our guys," Triano said after Toronto fell to 32-33 on the season, the first time the Raptors have been below .500 since late January.
"We've got guys who want to come and play and do the right thing, and if guys aren't doing the right thing I told them before the game: `I'm going to pull you. I'll put you back in but you're going to come out and you're going come out and you're going to think about it for a bit and you're going to give somebody else a chance to go in and do the right thing.' And that's why we were a bit quicker with some of our substitutions."
The move to Calderon over Jack did staunch the third-quarter wounds that have been inflicted the past two games against Sacramento and Golden State.
"I thought Jose was playing pretty darn well," said Triano. "I thought we had a good rhythm with that group so I just rolled with it. When he was on the floor, I thought we were playing pretty darn good."
However, the coach stopped short of confirming a permanent shift for Wednesday's game at home against Atlanta.
"I might change it up a little bit, watch the tape again and see what we think is our best lineup," he said.

Portland drops Raptors 109-98

Quote:
Not so long ago, Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan had a talk with Nicolas Batum suggesting the forward get back to what has worked best for him in the past: defence.
The 6-foot-8 Frenchman, in his second season, said McMillan told him to “just play defence first, then the offence will come.”
It all clicked on Sunday night, when Batum scored 22 points, making five of six 3-point attempts, to help the Blazers 109-98 victory over the Toronto Raptors .
“I let the game come to me,” Batum said.
LaMarcus Aldridge added 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Blazers, who have won four straight and nine of 11. Brandon Roy had 20 points.
Chris Bosh had 28 points and seven rebounds for the Raptors, who have lost five straight, matching a season high.
The Blazers led by as many as 15 points, but Andrea Bargnani hit a pair of free throws that pulled the Raptors within four before Sonny Weems' long jumper made it 93-91 with 6:15 left.
Portland kept Toronto at bay, going up 101-93 on Roy's hook shot and a pair of free throws from Batum.
With 1:11 left, Batum nailed a 3-pointer that sealed it.

Portland 109, Toronto 98: Trail Blazers have rhythm, magic for the stretch run

In a six-minute span from the end of the first quarter to midway through the second quarter, Fernandez led a 13-2 run by providing a little bit of everything. He hit a three-pointer, shoveled a nifty wrap-around scoop pass to Martell Webster, who hit a three-pointer, and slapped away a steal from Andrea Bargnani. On the ensuing possession, Fernandez grabbed an offensive rebound, dribbled out to the three-point line, then bee-lined a diagonal pass through the lane that Aldridge dunked.

Two possessions later, he was at it again, lofting a high lob pass that seemed too high, but Aldridge corralled it for an emphatic dunk.

"The alley-oop by L.A. and Rudy -- whooo! -- that was high!" Batum said. "In the timeout, Nate was talking, but I was looking up at the scoreboard (with wide eyes), and I couldn't believe how high. That's the only time I haven't listened to Coach."

McMillan will likely forgive Batum for tuning him out, considering the forward's stellar game. He hit 7 of 9 shots, including 5 of 6 from three-point range. He added two blocks and a steal.

Batum's unexpected touch from outside continues to be a developing facet of this team's emerging offense. With opponents intent on double-teaming and stopping Roy and Aldridge, Batum is left open on the wing, and he is picking teams apart. Batum is now shooting 56.5 percent from the field and a sizzling 46.6 percent from three-point range.

"I'm going to get open shots," Batum said. "They focus on B-Roy and L.A. -- not me."

This all figures to make the season's final 13 games an interesting exercise in nightly scoreboard watching for the Blazers (41-28).

Portland occupies the eighth and final playoff spot, but are a half-game behind seventh-place San Antonio, one game behind sixth-place Phoenix and two games behind fifth-place Oklahoma City. The Blazers play at Phoenix on Sunday and have two more meetings with the Thunder.

"As we play more and more games together we are bound to get better and better," said Roy, who had 20 points.

Women like cops - especially when they strip and squirt whipped cream on their 'billy sticks'.

Nothing has been passed.

And just as I suspected, no one is discussing the articles.
