DeRozan falls in final

Quote:
New York's Nate Robinson is the NBA's first three-time slam dunk champion.
Robinson barely won another title during on Saturday night's all-star festivities, garnering 51% of the fan vote to hold off Raptors rookie DeMar DeRozan, who advanced to the final round after getting a perfect score of 50 on his second dunk of the first round.
The final dunk for the 5-foot-9 Robinson came when he threw the ball off the backboard, grabbed it and turned midair for a two-handed backward slam.
DeRozan got a spot in the competition by winning the first all-star Slam Dunk-In, beating Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Gordon at halftime of the rookie challenge on Friday night.
Charlotte's Gerald Wallace and Shannon Brown of the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated after the first round in Saturday night's marquee event.
DeRozan got into the final round after recording a 50 when he caught a pass off the side of the backboard and slammed it with his right hand on the other side of the hoop.

DeMar DeRozan a winner in defeat

Quote:
The only blip on DeRozan's night came at the most inopportune moment. After nailing his first dunk of the second round – leaping over teammate Sonny Weems to dunk one-handed after Weems stood under the rim and bounced the ball off the glass – DeRozan missed his first attempt at his final dunk.
"I'm a little disappointed, especially with it being so close, but it happens," he said. "I've got a long time in the league. Hopefully I get a chance to do the dunk contest again, try to redeem myself."
Before DeRozan's miss, Robinson had completed his second with a 360-degree reverse after tossing himself a high bounce pass, and the momentum shifted.
"Every dunk I kept switching up, trying to figure what I was going to do, but Nate got me with the last one," said DeRozan.
In the first round, DeRozan used a dunk similar to one he used in Friday's dunk-in, running along the baseline, putting the ball between his legs and throwing down a reverse dunk.
The reverse part was a variation on the between-the-legs move that has become commonplace.
"I've watched him do some stuff, but not that," Raptors teammate Chris Bosh said earlier Saturday. "That little between-the-legs thing, about five years ago nobody could do it, now he made me think I can do it. I might try it (in Sunday's all-star game), you never know."

Q: With all-star weekend upon us, I was thinking back and trying to recall various Raps participation in the festivities. Aside from Kapono, have we ever sent a representative to the 3-Pt shootout. I am having a Tracy Murray flashback but I might be making that up. Did Dell ever make it to a weekend wearing a Raps jersey?
Matthew M, Toronto
A: Sorry, no Dell or no Tracy but you seem to have forgotten The Wizard, Walt Williams, who was a three-point contestant way back in 1997. He and Jason Kapono, twice, are it.
There’ve also been four dunkers – Vince, Tracy, Jamario and DeMar – and only three all-stars: Chris Bosh, that Carter fellow and Antonio Davis.
Of course, there’s also been 10 guys take part in the rookie-sophomore silliness, none more out of place that Jorge Garbajosa.

Big stars want no part of dunk contest, and kids' stuffs don't cut it

Quote:
The results of Saturday's slam dunk competition must have been particularly hard on DeMar DeRozan, who boasted going in that he hadn't lost a dunk contest since junior high.
Of course, that was just five years ago. Probably still has his bus pass.

DeRozan, just 20, promised to bring something fresh to the dunk contest, and he had his moment. Catching a pass off the side of the backboard and throwing it down from the front showed creativity, not to mention a certain disdain for his well-being.
But with the pressure on, DeRozan turned conservative, surprising the other finalist, Nate Robinson.
"Downstairs he was practicing some different dunks I thought he was going to do," Robinson said.
"I guess they was just for warm-ups."

JERRY COLANGELO TO NEW JERSEY?

Quote:
James and fellow Olympians Dwyane Wade of Miami and Chris Bosh of Toronto could be free agents this summer, and the appeal of a Colangelo-Krzyzewski partnership would be its potential of recruiting one of those All-Stars to the Nets.
"You never know, but Coach K, he's been at Duke for a very long time, so ... I don't see it," Bosh said. "I think that's the team that's most speculated about right now. They don't really know what they're doing."

NBA All-Star rosters filled with potential free agents
Quote:
“There are so many things that might or might not happen,’’ Bosh said. “That’s why I’m glad I’m not a general manager.
Though Bosh refused to speculate where he may end up next season, he said the Toronto Raptors are going to make a push to re-sign him. Whatever happens, it is expected to be one of the strongest free-agent classes in more than 10 years. James, Wade, Bosh and Johnson are all franchise players who have have made at least four All-Star appearances from the Eastern Conference.

Maxima is a good car, but it's 290HP to the WRX Limited 265HP is an obvious edge to the Maxima. You're right. Not a fan of the Maxima, but i'd buy one before a Subaru. Mind you Maxima is quite abit more expensive for not alot more power (if you comapre the limited WRX).

Then again the WRX STI is 40,000$ and has 305HP

Why dont you like Maximas, they're sexy and powerful. But my Maxima is only 265 HP so it would go down tow hich car is lighter so I guess WRX would win? Never knew WRX had the same exact power. Maxima is more expensive because of the luxury.

I've never been a big fan of the interior look of any of the Nissans. Although the new Maximas look alot better. And the exterior look is pretty nice but for roughly 40k i can get better imo.

Here's a car i want:
