Silly season starts in the NBA with lots of talk about Bosh

Quote:
The NBA's mid-season is on the horizon, but the silly season finds itself in full bloom.
In the world of back-door cuts and cross-over dribbles, the silly season is often referred to as the days and weeks leading up to the league's annual trade deadline, a time of unfiltered talk and unsubstantiated rumours that somehow morph into legitimacy.
In a cap world dotted with base-year compensation, making trades is no small feat, but the slight oversight blinds even the most respected chroniclers of all things related to the hardwood.
GRAPEVINE BUZZING
As Big Al Jefferson so succinctly put it when the hoops grapevine was buzzing of a deal that would send Minnesota's power forward to Indiana in return for small forward Danny Granger: "I laugh at rumours. That's why they're rumours.
"When you see stuff like that coming on TV and coming up out of the woodwork, that's why it's in one ear and out the other.
"I've been in this league long enough to know you're going to hear rumours about trades and stuff before the trade deadline."

European club eyes Nesterovic

Quote:
According to website Sportske.net, Spanish basketball team Real Madrid is searching for a centre and currently is negotiating with the Raptors little-used Rasho Nesterovic. If the club fails to sign the Slovenian, Darko Milicic will be coach Ettore Messina's main target.

Raptors keen to move on

Quote:
After going into the tank on Monday night, the Raptors are hoping to flush away the bad memories.
Coach Jay Triano gave his players a day off Tuesday, following a 105-101 loss in Indianapolis to the Indiana Pacers, during which the Raps blew a 23-point lead.
Its one game, Raptors guard Jose Calderon said. For me, it is erased right now. You can still think about the game, but they are not going to give you the game back. So thats it.
Only twice in their history have the Raptors lost when they led by more than 23 points, and on both occasions they coughed up 24-point leads to the Dallas Mavericks, once in 2006 and once in 2007.
The Raptor fell a game under .500 with the loss to Indiana, and though they are 8-3 in their past 11 games, they have lost two in a row and there seems to be little doubt their mental state will be tested after such a difficult loss.
The Raptors dont play again until Friday night in New York versus the Knicks, which means there should be plenty of time to leave the setback to the Pacers behind. On the other hand, it might be a bit of a challenge for Triano to get his players to pretend the Indiana game never happened.

Feschuk: Hedo Turkoglu 'limited' by defeatist attitude

Quote:
"I try to do my best, but I'm limited," Turkoglu said. "I just run on the side and expect them to just pass it to me. When for the past three years (in Orlando) I've been a point guard, too, leading the team and making decisions. ... I'm not happy how I play right now, but because of the situation, I'm limited."
In other words, his play is as good as it is going to get barring a strategy change. Excuse Jay Triano, the Raptors coach, if he wasn't rushing to revise the playbook.
"Does he want (the ball) more? Yes. Does everybody? Yes," Triano said Monday night, before the Raptors lost their second straight game, this one by blowing a 23-point lead to the Indiana Pacers.
Triano didn't rule out a schematic "tweak" to provide Turkoglu with more ball-in-hand opportunities. But there were those who wondered aloud if maybe Turkoglu might need to re-think his assessment. Instead of this passive-aggressive push for the system to be adapted to him, how about adapting to the system?
"A lot of us have had different roles prior to coming here. I think we've all had to adjust," said Jack, the point guard, when asked about Turkoglu's comments. "I don't know if you can just say, `This is how it was in Orlando.' Bottom line is, we're not in Orlando. I'm not trying to bash anybody, but I can't be like ... `When I was (in college) at Georgia Tech ...'"

i think claudius should devote an entire archival thread in the year in review to your various responses to hot girls of the day. just line em all up one after another.
truly hilarious.

in other news, i really like what jack is saying in the feshuk article. i get jays response, it's kind subtle. if this were popovich-ville turk would get a big stfu from duncan, pop, parker, manu, and of course pop.
i'm going to go out on a limb here, but there has to be a number of people on the inside utterly pissed at turkoglu's passiveness and passing the buck.

true.

I'm personally dissapointed by Hedo's comments in that article. they don't sit well with me at all and this really isn't the guy i thought we were getting last summer.

I think there needs to be a team meeting to address this. I can understand what both sides are saying. Both sides do have a legit argument. On one hand Hedo is not in Orlando and should learn to work in the new system but on the other hand why the hell did we bring in Hedo? We brought him in because he can get his teammates going and he can create for himself. So, I think BC should talk to the coaching staff and players to see what can be done or else someone needs to go... most likely Jose.

Oh and the chick is hot 8.4/10

jack is hilarous, when he said well back in Georgia tech

lol

jack needs to be reminded that he never played in the playoffs

well jack was sitting with the Raptors last year, in front of of there t.v sets, Hedo was hiting clutch shots against the best teams in the east, helping them eliminate teams to play in the nba finals

and that was with Hedo being a point forward, and by the way I think Hedo just wants to have the ball a little more not dominate the ball, we should accomidate him

bosh, bargs probably would benefit the most from this

jack is good but lets get it straight I would rather have Hedo out there in pressure situations,
