Post Daily Raptor Dish - 12.03.10

Figure it out ... fast!

Quote:
Raptors head coach Jay Triano has a problem.
Yeah, we know. Tell us something we don’t know.
But this problem isn’t just about the fact that his team is showing every sign of imploding down the stretch and playing itself right out of a playoff spot that, only three weeks ago, looked like all but a sure thing.
Triano is in a Catch-22. To rectify the obvious problem, seven losses in their past eight games, he needs his Big Two, Chris Bosh and Hedo Turkoglu, to produce like a Big Two.
Unfortunately for Triano, and anyone hoping for good things for this team, the Big Two isn’t producing like even a combined Big One these days.
Both Bosh and Turkoglu are slowly making their way back from ankle sprains that knocked them out of action and has cost them, at least temporarily, both their game legs and their game feel. In the two games so far on this road trip, the duo has put up just 48 points between them.
Bosh looked like he was getting his game back in Los Angeles on Tuesday, but a 6-for-20 shooting night 24 hours later in Sacramento says otherwise.
Turkoglu is rebounding hard and giving forth an effort, but right now his greatest talent on the basketball court appears to be collecting fouls.
Neither is right and, until they are, the Raptors are in trouble. Knowing that, Triano doesn’t feel he has any choice but to run them out there until they get it right, which results in the kind of embarrassing show the Raps turned in on Wednesday, a 113-90 dismantling by the Sacramento Kings.
“You play a game like this and you have to give them a little leeway because we need them to be rolling if we’re going to be in the playoffs,” Triano said of his Big Two.

Speak up, Raptors

Quote:
Bosh has been asked to do a lot in Toronto and he has handled every responsibility with grace, maturity and humility.
He is not able to play at a dominant level because of his inactivity, but it will come. Chances are pretty good it will arrive on Saturday against the up-tempo Golden State Warriors, who have no one capable of stopping Bosh.
It’s not in his character to rip his team, but Bosh must now go out of character. His voice is the only one that matters inside the Raptors locker room.
Of all the hype that surrounded Reggie Evans’ arrival last off-season, he has been injured too long to have his words mean anything.
Wright means well, but his credibility isn’t as strong as this is his first season in Toronto, and likely his last.
Jose Calderon isn’t going to call out anyone. You know Andrea Bargnani isn’t and neither will Hedo Turkoglu.
Jarrett Jack might, but he’s too nice.
That leaves Bosh because the Raptors are left with no other choice.

Feschuk: Lapses leave Raptors coach to make tough choices

Quote:
As they mulled over their seventh loss in eight games on Wednesday night, it was difficult to find a Raptor interested in a frank public discussion of the ongoing slump.
"I'm not starting any fires," said Antoine Wright, the oft-outspoken swingman. And save for coach Jay Triano's admonishment of his team's selfish shot selection in Wednesday's 113-90 loss at Sacramento – a line parroted by plenty of players – there was scarcely a passionate spark in the dull post-game press scrums.
Fair enough

Raptors Blog by Doug Smith

Quote:
Here’s one thing to watch for Saturday night.
How they get along.
It seems to me there’s some more of the finger-pointing and subtle digs that we saw in November creeping into the picture now and that’s a troubling sign indeed.
Of course, as I’ve mentioned before, nothing helps “chemistry” more than a win or two and nothing hurts it more than continued losses so it could go the other way quite easily and quite quickly.
But right now, the body language I’m seeing and the reading between the lines that I’m doing is showing a team not with a break but one with at least a non-displaced hairline fracture.
It can heal, but it might take time.
And some wins.

She needs to lose a few pounds, but besides that I think she's pretty cute.

that is not the issue! if she wants to be one, that is her business, but to say she needs to lose a few pounds is just plain ignorant... i don't like the look of most supermodels as it is! way too skinny and un-natural and un-healthy for my tastes, it's a shame women think they have to look like that to be considered attractive to the general spectrum of men! makes me very sad actually... as we men generally tend to become overweight and in-active, we still require women to be undernurished to be considered attractive?? geesh, are we all that moronic? i hope not!

beauty is way more than the outside and deserves to be appreciated for what it is. women should not have to be made to feel that anything over 110 pounds is NOT attractive!! have men become that shallow? what if we were expected to NEVER weigh more than say 150?? i would be in real trouble!! i am 5' 10", 215 lbs, but less than 10% body fat, yet i am considered obese by the BMI spectrum... IF i had to lose 65 pounds so women would consider me "attractive" i would literally be dead as my core mass weighs 180 or so... we hold women to unrealistic and deadly standards, yet most men are so hypocritical on this issue....

takman - whether you like it or not, supermodels are at that end of the weight spectrum. while i find this woman attractive and almost too thin for my tastes, she is clearly not thin enough to be a runway supermodel, by your own admission. i don't see what is wrong with what most have said here. she is not thin enough to be a supermodel despite being fantastic in your or my eyes. that seems pretty clear to me.

Amen to this too.

My ex is 5'11" and about 160lbs... and she's not "overweight" at all. She's got an athlete's frame so she carries a bit more muscle than most other chicks but she was still very sexy. She was also a great help when I needed to move something heavy.. lol...

If you're a 6ft woman you're going to be around the 150lb mark (even when active and healthy) unless you starve yourself.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

That may be true in real life but when you are taking photographs for a living, it is a 100% external result. If you want to be involved in that business you need to produce the goods.

Quiet down Fatty! haha

I think that the term "supermodel" has been misused a bit over the past 10 years.....

Supermodel does not necessarily = runway model

Cindy Crawford was a supermodel.

Nikki Taylor was a supermodel.

Heidi Klum is a supermodel.

And to my knowledge none of those women are/were "heroine waifs".

cindy crawford and nikki taylor are 'old school', if i can say something that ridiculous. coming out of the 80's and 90's supermodels were healthier. heidi klum belongs in that group too, but she was always super thin.
