Wizards rip Raptors

Quote:
Well, they weren’t going to go 0-66, but being the team that snapped the Washington Wizards’ eight-game losing streak is something no NBA team wanted to be a part of.

The Raps looked more like a team at the end of a seven games in nine nights marathon than one just reaching the half-way point of that absurd stretch as the Wizards ran the Raptors right out of the building in a 93-78 beatdown.

About the only good thing you could say about the Raps last night was they took full responsibility for this embarrassment.

From Jose Calderon to Andrea Bargnani to DeMar DeRozan there was no talk of the schedule or fatigue or any other excuse. The message from all was clear: “We did this to ourselves.”

DeRozan can't snap shooting woes

Quote:
DeMar DeRozan doesn’t need to look at a boxscore to know what has to happen.

DeRozan knows his team needs him to score and he knows the 31 combined points over the past four games just aren’t going to cut it.

“I just got to play better,” DeRozan said after an 11 point game that saw him hit just one of his first 10 field goal attempts.

“I take a lot of the (blame) when we’re not doing as well because I got to step up and start being consistent on both ends of the floor.”

The offensive drought is the biggest surprise as it was only five games ago that DeRozan was being praised for a more consistent jumper and his much-improved range on that jumper.

DeRozan sounds confident the offence will come.

Kelly: Sloppy Raptors hand Wiz first win of season, 93-78

Quote:
One advantage of the compressed NBA season is that after an awful loss like the one the Raptors suffered on Tuesday night, it gives basketball players the chance to talk like baseball relievers.

“We’ve got another one tomorrow,” said Jose Calderon. “I already forgot about what happened tonight.”

Jose will forgive us if we remind a few people.

Visiting the worst team in the NBA — the 0-8 Wizards — the Raptors promised not to indulge the sin of pride.

Wizards snap eight-game losing skid against Raptors

Quote:
After the worst start in franchise history, coach Flip Saunders left Andray Blatche and Lewis on the bench to start the game. It was the first time this season Blatche didn’t start. Before the game, a team official said Blatche had a right shoulder injury, and his participation would be a game-time decision.

Trevor Booker and Chris Singleton started in their places, but Blatche and Lewis, who missed Sunday’s game with a sore right knee, entered the game with three minutes to play in the first quarter.

Blatche had nine points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes. John Wall tied his season high with nine assists, but missed nine of 12 shots. In his last two games, Wall is 6 for 21 from the field.

Toronto, which was playing its second of three games in three nights, was led by Andrea Bargnani with 22 points.

Raptors look sluggish in loss to Wizards

Quote:
Fatigue was always going to be the enemy of every team in this shortened NBA season, but it had the potential to be particularly nasty to the Toronto Raptors, a team dealing with almost as much mental stress as physical.

And head coach Dwane Casey expected many tough nights as he continues to implement his rigid defensive system in a 66-game schedule. It is the reason the new coach said he would not get too high for wins, like Monday night’s against Minnesota, or too low for losses, like Tuesday night’s dismal 93-78 decision against the previously winless Washington Wizards.

Casey was certain to make sure the Raptors did not look past the Wizards, who came into the game 0-8.

“I don’t even look at that number — 0-8,” he said. “They’re an NBA team. They get paid on the first and 15th of every month.”

But in the second of three games in three nights, after a taxing win over Minnesota on Monday, the Raptors struggled mightily at the Verizon Center and could not overcome a 12-point Washington halftime lead.

Smart says it's simple: More hustle is needed

Quote:
Kings coach Keith Smart knows he's in a tough situation.

He took over last Thursday when Paul Westphal was fired and has had one full day of practice since.

So Smart is trying his best to be simplistic with the Kings. That worked last Thursday in a comeback victory over Milwaukee, but the Kings have followed up with two consecutive defeats, the latest being a 112-85 drubbing by the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night at Wells Fargo Center.

Smart isn't upset that the Kings don't know all of the system he wants them to run, but he does want to see them take care of the parts of the game that don't require him to diagram a play.

SUNshine Girl Jacqueline is the mother of four kids! We know — we can’t believe it either! Jacqueline is only 33, and we think with four kids she deserves to have her dream come true — a BMW Vision that she can drive in her bikini and heels. We might like to see that ourselves.

How in god's name could Sean Avery EVER call her sloppy seconds?
She's a Toronto girl, could it get any better than dating the Toronto Maple Leaf's captain if she grew up in a hockey household? :S

Gotta agree, Phaneuf is one oogly dude, and he seems kinda slow too. Luckily he's a good hockey player.

Good for you. But that isn't always the case. And it works both ways.

I'll preface this with a "no homo" but I don't think that Phaneuf is bad looking. I've certainly seen A LOT worse when it comes to pro athletes.

Sam Cassell anyone?

Well there's always. But that doesn't make someone better looking. I find he looks goofy. +1 on Sam Casell. Lol

Looks like a tough guy to me. Has a little bit of that Gary Roberts look to him.

Now if Elisha was dating Ovechkin THEN I'd have to kill myself.

How much money someone has isn't a good measure of what kind of person they are.

I think what's more important is how each of these people VALUE money. If you are poor an obsessed with money you're probably an asshole.

If you are rich and you are obsessed with money you're probably an asshole (and a moron).

Just my opinion though!

Amen.

I suppose I should've explained better - most of the wealthy guys who have attempted to date me were the "flaunting" type. And money can make me uncomfortable.

I grew up knowing the value of a dollar, and know how to get by without much. I prefer a partner who is the same, really.
