Raptors suffer preseason loss to Timberwolves

Quote:
Together, DeRozan and Gay can open up space for each other, and pose a huge threat to opponents’ defences, who have to decide who’s the more important player to focus on.

Apart from the alley-oop, Wednesday’s game at the Air Canada Centre was typical pre-season, not a pretty performance for either team, featuring mis-timed alley-oops and sloppy turnovers.

“It’s pre-season,” coach Dwane Casey said. “I don’t think you can talk to a coach in the NBA now that is where they want to be. We are definitely not where we want to be defensively.”

Valanciunas said it was a “bad effort on defence tonight.”

“We still have time and a lot of things to fix and we’re going to start tomorrow,” he said.

The Raptors sophomore centre, who was beaten up by the league’s top centres early in his rookie campaign, had some trouble with Minnesota’s centre Pekovic on Wednesday.

Raptors mascot for season

Quote:
t’s only the pre-season, but a crushing blow has already befallen the Raptors.

The Raptor himself, the beloved franchise mascot and ironman has been lost for the season due to a torn Achilles suffered during a school visit in Halifax over the weekend.

While the franchise often has failed to live up to expectations over the course of its existence, the mascot never did and in fact, could be considered the most consistent employee over the years.

Unfortunately, the Day 1 hire’s long streak of not missing a game has come to an end.

Raptors loss to Timberwolves

Quote:
Game 2 of the pre-season was easier to watch and better-executed than the opener, but the Raptors ended up on the wrong side of the scoreboard this time around, losing 101-89 to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the ACC on Wednesday.

Head coach Dwane Casey summed up the game in a way he never would during the regular season.

“I like that we showed some things that we need to work on,” Casey said, genuinely pleased.

And those would be?

“We are definitely not where we want to be defensively,” he said.

None of these three have played much or impressed so right now I would say leave it open, maybe get a Centre down the road. I would like to see us sign Aldrich if NY doesn't keep him tbh. At this point the only position of need is Center imo.

I agree with those who say leave the spot open. Save some money. Have more flexibility for trades. Maybe pick up some1 like Aldrich like jeffb has stated, or someone like Aldrich.
