Raptors D. Smith: Weems & Wright won't be back next season

So i'm guessing Weems will get a multi year contract??

Quote:
Q: Between DeRozen, Weems, Wright, Barbosa, and Kleiza it seems that Brian has constructed a 2/3 rotation that doesn't include anyone that can shoot above 33% from behind the arc. Criticism aside for doing that (for which he deserves plenty), do you feel that the Raptors most pressing need come tradeline is to take a couple of those assets and package them to get a young 3-point shooter?

Le Doug: I don't for a second believe either Weems or Wright will be here next year; and three-point shooting is a need that has be addressed, either by Feb. 24 or in the summer

DeRozan plays like shit when Weems plays and gets less touches, which isn't good at all. If Weems could come off the bench like how he did last year then I'd sign him instantly, but hes become a chucker which we don't need.

OJ Mayo could easily shoot above 33% from behind the arc in a Raps jersey.

Just throwing that out there.

I could shoot above 40% from 3 in a Raptors jersey... No one gives me a chance.

I was watching that Game Capsule game with the Spurs vs Raptors, we won the game a couple of years ago with a lineup of

JO
Bargs
Kapono
Parker
Roko

after watching the game, I realized our defence was much better then because the overall basketball i.q is alot higher, Parker and Kapono are deep threats, which gave us better spacing on the offensive floor, Jermaine Oneal was a defensive stopper and Bargs played our natural position

we need 3 point shooting

can`t wait to see weems gone
i don`t mind keeping wright, he`s probably got the most bball IQ out of the whole team and he can stay in his bench role or even get an increased role

while i agree that weems (and wright) leave a lot to be desired, i think it's a little lame that doug feels the need to take these guesses when it comes to the team. He's done it time and time again and he usually ends up being wrong.

Also just to chime in, i would not do that Bellineli for Wright trade if i had the chance to do it over again. Belli had/has more potential.

Agree on the first part. The Belinelli thing was just because i know some people here wuold have had bad reactions and I wanted to read some trash talk.

Maybe its because of Bosh's recent departer but i think we should keep weems to keep Demar if he flourishes into a star. Even if he does't i like the chemistry of our current group and if you take out weems then they will be angry.

Weems is fine to stay for me, he will be a solid back up for the sf/SG position for years to come IMO
