Question D.Smith: Raptors to sign Joey Dorsey

Taken from his Ingame Blog moments ago:

Quote:
If you are, or when you get here, there's news
Not earth-shattering news, but news

Bryan told us before the game the Raptors are going to sign Joey Dorsey, ex-Sacramento, ex-Houston, to a contract either today or tomorrow.
But I caution you, it means nothing now..

What it does is lock up an under-sized big, about 6-9, for the Summer League and there is no financial obligation past that.
It would take a doomsday scenario for him to even put a uniform on this season and he is not playoff eligible.
It is a move for the summer and -- maybe -- next fall.
Whos Joey Dorsey

NBA career

Dorsey was chosen as the 33rd overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. After the draft, he was traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for the draft rights to the 25th pick, Nicolas Batum.

In the 2008-2009 NBA season, Dorsey played in 3 games, scoring a total of 2 points, grabbing one rebound, and making one assist.

The Rockets twice assigned Dorsey to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the NBDL.[4] On February 5, 2010, after previously being called back up from the NBDL, Dorsey played a career-high 19 minutes and grabbed 12 rebounds.[5]

On February 18, 2010, Dorsey was traded to the Sacramento Kings in a three team deal that also moved Tracy McGrady to the Knicks.[6]

On March 28, 2010, Dorsey was waived by the Kings.[7]

He's an upgrade over POB and possibly even over Rasho as far as athetisism goes at least. If i recall correctly, when he was drafted he was supposed to go in the late 1st round. So he might be ok as a 4-5th big.

WTh we don't need another big. Amir has all the back-up big minutes. IMO we don't need another undersized big

Dorsey was part of Derrick Rose's Memphis squad that blew the National Championship in '08.

He has absolutely zero offense. He is also very foul prone and is only 6'7". I'd take POB over him.
