D. Smith: Pops time is likely up

Quote:
Hereís one thatíll rile up a whole bunch of you.

I can see the end coming for Pops.

(Donít throw things, hear me out)

Later this month, right around the 20th, I believe, maybe a couple of days later, his contract becomes fully guaranteed if heís still on the roster.

And with it looking more and more like theyíll need the flexibility of a roster spot, either for a trade, maybe a third point guard, maybe a big, I can certainly see that spot being created by his departure.

This has as much to do with money as ability Ė there is no one else they can waive and save money doing it Ė so it might turn out to be the logical move.

lame... I hope that means were trading the entire team.

the only players I care about are: Amir DD Bosh Pops Evans and maybe Belinelli if he starts hitting 3's

the rest can f*ck off!

hey pops coming back was a big deal to some.

I actually had discussions with some members that I thought an empty spot on the bench is better than having pops.

well there you go my empty spot is back

He brought some sort of energy at some points.

Like that Denver blowout when he tried to dunk over Graham.

For every big block and nasty jam he'll turn the ball over three times and fuck up two assignments on defense. Yet he has the audacity to holler like a friggin chimpanzee on the off chance he does something productive. He's awful, good riddance.

haha yeah I'm not saying Pops should be getting significant minutes or anything like that but the raps should keep him around for insurance in case any of the big men get injured (knocc on wood). Using him in short bursts is best.

Zachus = Leo Rautins...

Forget the big plays, he completely locked down Landry, one of the best bench scorers in the league this year. That was key to keeping out lead in the first half. He had a great game, and it was against a team that let him go. If Houston is going to keep a scrub like Anderson around instead of Pops, he has every right to scream like a chimpanzee at their bench. He brings energy, and it was an emotional game for Pops.

Would you rather have a guy on your team who doesn`t play with a bit of a chip on his shoulder when he`s up against his old team...

I understand the need to let out some emotion, I can relate to it, but if you haven't reached a certain level of legitimacy as a player you just look silly.

Pops is so useless he rarely sees garbage time, it's not like Houston fudged on finding a diamond in the rough. He's got an unguaranteed contract and probably won't be in an NBA uniform at the end of the year. What does he have to scream about?

If I'm Chris Anderson sitting on the Houston bench I laugh right in his face.

Pops is a fan favorite and instant energy. At this point I prefer Pops over Evans. Amir is solid as first big off the bench

O'Bryant could be traded... O'Bryant and Wright for Travis Outlaw?

Love that trade, but it would probably take a draft choice as well. Wright has value as an expiring contract and could help a good defensive minded team.

I'd rather trade O'bryant.... hes so Useless at 7 feet playing garbage time...

The only thing that irritates me about POPS is if he makes a Big block or a Strong Dunk is he looks at the oponents bench which she shouldn't really do if he isnt a starter caliber player at all....

its stupid... Triano should talk to him about that

Pops would be a better player if he wasn't so undersized.
