As a player you have an obligation to the team that pays your salary... that's your JOB.
I think you greedy here. And biased. It's better for your club.
But it's their choice. NT means more than club to them and I respect that.
You see, Kleiza's salary is 5m. It's not even a starter salary. Is he a poor work ethic? Is he overpaid?
You see, if he would take a rest of these summers, take individual practice, maybe now he would be a better player and would worth 9m or smth...

NHL players haven't been part of the Olympics that long, you must be young? And you say that last part as if it were a bad thing.

Problem is in the amount of games played during season and tight schedule on championships that wears the players down.
I actually preferred the Olympics without the NHL'ers.... true amateur competition is what it is all about

i can see where TORap is coming from. most definitely.

It's not a question of greed from the fans. It's a question of priorities for the player. Players owe more to the teams that employ them than their national basketball programs. They simply do and i can't imagine anyone can entertain the notion that they don't. If this was an issue at all about greed, then Lithuanian supporters are just as greedy.

All that said, i actually don't think this should even be an issue with Linas. The guy is only 25 and should be able to handle playing for Lithuania. If the wear and tear is really getting to him because of international play, then that is not good.

Patriotism has inspired many great cultural works. To quote two well known artists:

Checkmate. Patriotism wins. 'trane loses. There is no comeback. Consider yourself pwned, 'trane.

Yes there is.! Our country had a defencive war more or less recently but for that generation, words like patriotism will prolly remain as long as they have a sain mind. Not to be judged. It would be sad if the new generation of people would think that way too, but for those people it represents more than it does to you.

That being sad i was speaking of Kleizas playing for NT without any implications with patriotism and such crap.
