D. Smith: Jrue Holiday & James Johnson back in Tdot again

Quote:
James Johnson, a small forward from Wake Forest, has been in for a second visit, and Jrue Holiday, a combo guard from UCLA is expected to pay a second visit today or tomorrow.

That was about the extent of the draft news – USC forward Demar DeRozan, Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn and Duke guard Gerald Henderson would round out the five that Toronto expects to choose from in Thursday’s draft.

“I think we have a very good read on this draft right now,” Bryan said in his last full-blown media session before the draft. “All the people we’re talking about can add something to help us improve.”

In other news (and how cliché is that)

-- The chance of Toronto adding a second first-round pick is diminishing.

It sounds like a specific guy they want may not have emerged at any spot they can get him and Bryan isn’t sure taking on the three-year guaranteed salary commitment is worth it.

-- Moving up in the draft? Nope..

“We had a little bit of conversation about it … but didn’t feel like there was anything there that made sense.”

Touched on the coming free agency season, too, and the first priority right now is to bring Shawn Marion back – at the right price. And if that right price can’t be agreed upon, Bryan thinks he can turn him into an asset or two in some sign-and-trade transaction
Hmmmmmmmmm. interesting. James Johnson continues to be brought up. Maybe they now know Marion isn't coming back?

I think with the second pick(which I hope we can acquire) we will pick Johnson with that, and with our first one we will pick Holiday(if he is available). I don't know much about oliday but would he fit well with us?

He's a combo guard who's better suited at the PG position. He can certainly help us, but i'd much rather go after a true SG.

BC said we won't be acquiring a second pick.

Yeah it sounds like the player they'd want won't be around and it wouldn't be worth a guaranteed contract.

I'm pretty confident that second guy was T-Will. He was being mentioned in the 19-24 range until Charlotte apparently became interested.

James Johnson and Jrue Holiday having second workouts. That doesn't sound too good. We had 2 workouts woth Joey Graham, and we picked him. We have 3 million to burn, and were not going buy another first round pick. If we come out of this draft, with only Johnson or Holiday, lets start the "fire BC" campaign.

firstly, both of those guys are good players, and secondly, you wouldn't be starting it, it's been going strong since pretty much day 1.

Calm down. I do think that Holiday is second in line behid Derozan unless someone else drops into their lap (ie: Harden,Evans). And i for one have no problem with that. But if Derozan is available and they take Holiday i'll be surprised! I really think the Raptors are totally in the dark with what's going to happen 6-8 and are taking no chances.
