So coming off the bench....he'd get no drop in pay?

I think we’re going to find out a little bit about Anthony Parker this week.

I know there are NBA teams out that covet him – San Antonio, Cleveland and Boston will call again because they’ve been making back-channel inquiries already and all present a more legitimate chance at a title than Toronto does – but I don’t know if chasing a championship is what drives him.

He’s always lauded the Raptors organization and the city, he has a valued place in the locker room as one of the grown up leaders and I’ll be quite interested to see what he eventually does.

I would think a two-year deal at somewhere around $9 or $10 million – the same salary he made last year – with perhaps a third year option would be logical jumping off point.
completed.

HAHA in his dreams. Screw that I'd rather not sign him and instead find a cheaper and possibly younger alternative

It's funny that so many here devalue him and yet look at the teams that are intertested in him. I think that speaks volume about what he can bring and the Raps are screwed if they don't have him coming off the bench next year.

I think two years with a team option for the third is good.

Everyone screams for change and how we suck, yet let's keep everyone.

I'd be fine with keeping him for 2.5-3Mil. Beyond that... don't let the door hit you on the way out.

No one is saying keep everyone.

AP is the one solid veteran presence we have and he's exactly what we need to bolster our crappy bench.

Again, there's a reason the top teams want him on their roster.

Well let's see...

-AP is a FA and most want him re-signed
-Marion is a FA and most want him re-signed
-Joey is FA and some want him to stay (although most want him gone)

If you re-sign AP/Marion, there won't be much change for next season other then Evans/DD.

Banks is gonna be difficult to trade unless he's a throw in (CB or Marion trade?)

Hump/Jawai/POB/Douby...good luck getting anything in return there.

The fact of the matter is, if we are going to make changes AP/Joey need to go and retool the bench with different personalities that might inject something. This is a buyers market imo (few have money to spend) for 5Mil/yr we can get better then AP at that price or cheaper.

I agree. He will be a very solid sixth man off the bench. Especially when a good bench is one of the components we lacked last year. I would love to see him back, but maybe a little less than 5/yr?

He's not the same player he was when he signed his last deal. He doesn't deserve the same deal again.

I think Doug is seriously pulling that 5Mil/yr out of his hairy ass! He didn't even make 5Mil last season. So now with a lesser role he'd get a raise? Fuck that.

There won`t be a complete overhaul of the roster. That`s already been confirmed by Colangelo. No to mention, he`d be shifitng roles to one where he`ll thrive in.

Also, name me one guy that we can get who`d bring veteran experience and leadership on and off the court, can play multiple positions and would embrace the city of Toronto like he has.

To be honest i'd have to look at the FA list. And it doesn't have to be a veteran. We can probably get a younger player to come oof the bench and make an impact. But ulitimately i don't care...he's not worth 5Mil/yr, not even close.

get ready for another season of shitty ball. Dont get my wrong, i like AP. Hes a great player and guy, but, he is getting old, it takes him like 15 games just to get into things, and, oh ya, hes getting old. Im sure for 5 million we can find a better bench player then him. If we resign all the same players, how do people think we will be a good team again? If this team looks the same except for evans/dd then all i have to say is: same shit, different year

i'm against giving AP 5 million a year for 3 years... totally against it.
its too much to give an aging bench player.
sure, AP is a glue guy that provides vet leadership, but to spend that much on a guy over the next 3 years is not a smart move for us. we're not a championship team, we actually need to spend our cash on players that will improve our roster, not just the lockeroom chemistry.
i just cant justify spending so much on AP... not now.
we just got rid of our deadwieght jumpshooter contract (Kapono)... why would we give this same deal to AP?
i know he provides more than just jumpshots, but still... i like AP, so i wont be unhappy to see him re-signed, but i wont be happy either... in fact, i'll be a little disappointed.

U want to give a 37 year old (at the time) an option for a 3rd year on a 5 million dollar / year contract?

I would rather get rid of that 5 mil... start derozan/delfino and with the 5 extra mil/year we'll be able to sign marion who is 10000x more important to this team.

If it's a team option, why not?
